Has anyone here ever tried shrooms? Care to share your experience? I just took them a few weeks ago and it profoundly changed my life (in a good way). I just wanted to know if anyone else had the same experience I had.

well well.

i didn't experience a profound change in my life after i first shroomed, but i know what you're talking about. was this your first time using any sort of psychedelic drug? If so, it is common that people feel they have a new perspective on things, even far after the shrooms have worn off. I think it's because one escapes from reality in a way they've never before experienced.

How did it change your life?

It sounds that you had a good trip. those are always good.

Yea, it was my first trip.

It changed my life in the sense that I was detached from reality for about 6 hours and when I came back down, I was reborned with a newfound optimism, peace with yourself and thirst for life. It's been a month since my trip but even now, I would still think back on my trip and smile.

Anyways, I'm not here trying to push drugs or anything. I can see how shrooms can be dangerous for certain people. But I'm just sharing my experience. I'm presenting the possibility that certain drugs can make good changes in your life.

actually, i was offered the chance to take some, but by that time that night, i had a 1/3 of a bottle of tequila in me and i was buzzing off of that.

believe it or not, a lot of philosophy students take it because it helps them understand all the crazy thoughts that go through their head on a daily basis. certainly, consuming drugs on a regular basis isn't good for you. but i remember the first time i dropped, metaphysics started making sense.

Hey, cool! Yellowworld is not biased about killing our own braincells, through consuming poison.

Personally, I'm stupid enough as it is... I can't afford any lose of braincells, for the sake of a little "high time".

shrooms are *dangerous*. i had the unfortunate experience of consuming a packet (10 stems) of fresh blue hawaiian mushrooms in Amsterdam. i ate all of it because no one else wanted it and i had underestimated the potency. to cut a long story short, nearly had a bad trip in the red light district -- basically struggled to walk as the ground beneath me looked like a galaxy; retreated back to the hotel with the help of friends and spent the next the two hours trying to control the hallucination.

never again will i touch that stuff nor any other drug. those days of recreational/party drugs are over for me.

I did some research beforehand. Shrooms has no long-term negative effects on the brain.

Yea, I wouldn't just take shrooms impromptu. When I took them, I made sure I was at a familiar (and beautiful) location. I made sure I was surrounded by friends who knew I was doing it. I cleared my schedule of obligations so I would be free. I planned it out like a trip, because it really is a "trip." When you come down from shrooms, you feel like you just spent ten years on a vacation.

There's little to no scientific data on the effects of using shrooms. Just because no damage has been recorded, doesn't mean they're proven to be benign.

There's no such thing as a free lunch - any drug you take regularly has to have some consequence on your health.

Shrooms are alittle too much for me personally. I tripped off of shrooms a few times before and each time comsuming ~3 grams of stems/caps.

It plays with your emotions too much and the peak is too damn long. The comedown is also a bitch. For me it wasn't a life changing experience nor did it cause any long term positive or negative impact on my life.

I much rather drink some green tea w/ 2 shots of expresso to get my buzz on these days.

Hey, I had a life changing experience with shrooms too! It was the weirdest, trippiest trip ever (other than this time with black pyramid acid but nothing good came from that in the end) and when I woke up the next morning the world was brand new to me. After that trip I was able to let things go and not get all stressed out about the little shit, because it's the big picture that matters and it's all about how you define happiness, not how others do for you and blah blah blah blah hippy crap blah blah.

Um, drugs are bad, stay in school.

First time I took 'em was in high school. At that time, it just seemed like a weak version of acid. Slight hallucinations, no body high. Pretty boring.

But the next time I tried 'em was in Japan, 2001. I remember that trip very fondly.=) Even purchasing the shrooms was trippy. Our host took us to this peculiar little shop in Shibuya to buy them. There was a little shack in the middle of an outdoor shopping area. Inside the shack was a set of narrow circular stairs, barely big enough to fit one person, leading below ground. Once below ground, there was small room with a low ceilng with standing room for two patrons. The room was illuminated with blue and red light and there were fake bud leaves all over the place. If I recall correctly, reggae music was playing in the background. Behind a counter with bank style bars sat the proprieter and a little digital scale. This guy was apparently the shroom master, having lived in Amsterdam for some time learning all about them. The guy sold us some shrooms that were supposed to mimic ecstasy. They came in granulated form in a little plastic baggy with a gold sticker.

Here's a picture of what we bought. You can't read the little sticker, but I believe it said "good luck" or "best wishes" something to that effect.

http://www.geocities.com/alexwong91/Images/shrooms.txt

Anyway, we bought some juice to mix 'em in and went back to our host's little apartment to experience our little purchase. Here's a tip: don't mix them with grape juice. Mushrooms and grape juice don't combine to make a tasty drink.

It took maybe half an hour before we all first started feeling the effects. And when we did, it was fucking great. I experienced a nice strong body high (similar to that of E) and cool visuals. When I went to the bathroom, which was about as wide as an public restroom stall, the walls started stretching up and I felt as if I was in an elevator. I would see all sorts of unreadable, constantly morphing writing all over my skin and the ground. At some point we started half watching Mulan. At one of the parts where they transition into song and they had some weird imagery where all the characters appear in a bowl of rice (I believe it was around the part where Mulan is training and her perseverence starts to pay off), we all just lost it. We must've replayed that scene five times 'cause it was so cool. Those images were meant to be viewed while under the influence of a hallucinogen. We later got restless so decided to go for a walk to the river. Being in Japan for the first time, and seeing all their neat little things such as the narrow, super clean streets, strange vehicles, and colorful vending machines on every street corner was neat enough sober. Under the influence was even neater. When we got back to the apartment, I laid out on the floor. When my eyes were open, I was resting calmly in the apartment. When I closed my eyes, I could see myself floating down the street, body parallel to the ground, hovering maybe two feet off the ground, and all these happy people were spraying me with water hoses. It was so real and refreshing. We stayed up until the subway started running again. Then my friend and I returned to our hotel and passed out. When I awoke, I felt no ill after effects.

It was quite the memorable experience, but nothing necessarily life altering for me. It's definitely something I'd like to do again sometime. Just gotta find the right time and place I suppose.

Pffssh... I personally think alcohol is much worse than shrooms.

For some people alcohol addiction is tantamount to heroin. Shrooms aren't addictive at all. Like, you can try it once and go on with the rest of your life riding on the high from that one trip. Alcohol destroys your liver. While I'm not entirely sure what the effects of shrooms are on your health, the main difference is that you don't do shrooms that often. Even regular shroomers do it once every 3 months, as opposed to some alcoholics who do it everyday. Also, when you're drunk, you can get violent and hurt people. When you're on shrooms, you're as calm as a Hindu cow.

The only reason alcohol is more socially accepted is simply cultural coincidence.

First trip, right? Shrooms can certainly expand your mind and make you feel like you've gained a deeper perspective and appreciation...but juuuuust wait:)
