Which web browser do you use to surf the Internet and why ? I have eliminated the inferior choices from the poll. I'll post my own opinion on the subject matter later.

I use the old versions of Mozilla... in other words: Netscape. :nerd:

I used to use Netscape 'til the old version I have started wiggin out on me. Lazy lemming that I am, I just started using IE 'cause it was already there. Please, enlighten us ignorant folk as to the virtues of these two web browsers. I'm always open to change, I just never thought of it.

I'm curious to know what's inferior about IE 6...aside from it being a Microsoft product, sure...

I would think at least most people would be attracted to the built-in pop-up killers, tabbed browsing, better speed, cross-platform availability (Linux, Unix and that other OS) and maybe even the available skins for Opera and Mozilla. Don't know why people would want to use anything without these features.

Btw, the latest Mozilla has the unrequested pop-up killer, while Netscape doesn't. It's not a kill everything feature like Opera. It's not perfect, but a definite improvement.

Sounds good to me! I've never even thought about trying out different browsers but maybe I'll give one of 'em a shot. A pop up killer would be nice, since I had to download one separately.

I've been using Netscape 7.0 with a pop-up killer plug in for a month or more now.

I've used Opera in the past and I just don't like the client side Java support or lack thereof. I wonder if it has improved since last year.

huh? where's the option for Lynx? can I get a hell yeah for text-based web browsing that works fast on any machine without crashing, regardless of the resolution or processor speed?

I prefer Pheonix, regular Mozilla is a tad too bloated. I don't like Opera cause it tries to be too much (and I don't like its DOM support).

AliBaBa: you might want to try w3m then, it has better table support.

Phoenix user here. Tastes great, less filling. Combined with a filtering/ad-blocking Squid proxy I hardly see any ads.

Opera's DOM does suck. They either need to go full-blast with the IE emulation or go W3C spec (like Mozilla) and not inbetween. Whoever had the Java problems with Opera, the current version uses the official Sun Java plugin and there shouldn't be any problems (unless an applet was specifically targetted for the Microsoft VM or some older version of the JVM). If you meant Javascript, it did get better but the way developers target IE specifically, you'll still run into trouble occasionally.
