Did you like your dorms or do you like your dorms?
Have any stories to tell or tips to improve someone's dorm?

I enjoyed my two year stint in the dorms. Dorm life for me improved drastically when I went from a three person sardine can my freshman year to a double room my second year. It improved even more when I hooked it up with my next door neighbor!=)

Tips: If you've got lots of stuff, but not a whole lot of room, try bunking the beds (if the frames allow for it).

Dorm life was mixed for me.

It was fun meeting new people, but at the same time my roommates and I clashed.

I was in a triple my freshman year. One roommate never took a shower, the place stank. The other one was constantly trying to show off how many girls he can sleep with and bringing them back, in the dead of night when I was sleeping. I woke up a couple times because they woke me up and shouted "Fucking a, can you two keep it down or tell your girl to shut up please!" Buncha exhibitionists freaks.

Next semester the kid that never took a shower dropped out, prolly because he never went to class. I then got this religious Asian guy who used to hold bible studies late Friday and Saturday nights. OK, fine I can respect it, but his friends always tried to preach to me because I was living in sin, engaging in pre-marital sex, partying etc etc. Things hit the fan when I staggered in drunk and was yelled out by one of them for drinking heavily and I kinda yacked at him. That was mah bad, but I couldn't hold it any longer.

From sophomore to senior year, I moved out of the dorms and lived in this single apartmant. Needed my privacy and the dorm food sucked and was mad expensive.

i have yet to experience college dorm life, but i lived in single-sex dorms for a while at boarding school. i liked it a lot. it was so much fun. if ya don't have any clothes, just go scream in the hallway or wander, and someone'll donate ya some temp clothes.. or if you don't own shoes that match with a particular outfit, same solution! no toothpaste or shaving cream? whaddya think ya got a roomie for? and that's all the more CDs to listen to, too. having a roomie also diversifies the type of music you listen to, i think. cus the probability that the two of you listen to the exact same genre, same groups, etc. is slim to nil. either that, or you're really lucky. umm.. there's always someone who'll stop by just to say hi or give you a hug, or chat or something. it's nice. i'm very much looking forward to dormlife.

:)

i'm heading out to chico state this weekend. woo hoo! never been there, but my friend said it was pretty crazy sometimes. ;)

are we to assume that there are screaming naked chicks in the hallways of girls-only dormitories of boarding schools?

My dorm sucked. Stupid rap blaring until 4 am, drunk girls puking in the hallway, drunk guys smashing things. So I moved into a co-op which turned out to be a smart move. Some ppl call it half a sorority/frat house because you live in a house with a group of ppl. The food was awesome because we had a cook.. okay not awesome, but better than the cafe. Much more like living in an apartment or house too. The sucky part is chores. Everyone in the house has to do chores.

FYI, it was a co-ed co-op.

Never had to live in the dorm while I was in college, though I did get to check 'em out. No way, they suck.

I also stayed in the dorm at SFSU while at the HIF conference. Okay, for a weekend. but for an extended time? No way, that sucks.

man, I never saw any of that. and from the roof of my boarding school dorm you could see everything. dang, maybe I should go back to high school.

seriously? after 4 years of dorm life in high school, sneaking onto the roof for smoking breaks, learning creative ways around the curfew and opposite-sex visitation rules (laundry room window ... hehehe), messing with car permissions (yup, you need permission to ride in people's cars) and trying to drink but having to hide all the bottles and cans every time we heard someone walk outside the door for fear it would be the housemaster ... college dorm life just wasn't all that interesting.

aside from the easier hookups and more frequent, more open parties. couldn't empathize with all the kids first time away from home who were high on, uh, their newfound freedom.

not completely naked. just halfway, like only bra, underwear and shorts or underwear and arms covering boobs. lotsa dripping wet bodies wrapped in towels in the mornings!

everyone left their room doors open. it was cool. guess it's different from a college dorm though, cus there were more restrictions..

i loved living in the dorms. i still keep in touch with most of the people on my floor and the two girls who lived next door are like my best friends. we grew close because we entered college pretty naive and inexperienced and were able to experience a lot of new things together. we had a pretty good mix of guys and girls. we were all pretty immature and were constantly running up and down the halls at all hours of the night.

nobody got along with my roommate though. she was insecure and uptight and bulemic. looking back, i wish i reached out to her--it never hurts to make an extra friend. still, at the time i thought she was pretty mean.

Dorm life just totally rocked for me. I swear, when it comes to college.. it was more of a social thing for me than anything else... i just grew tight with the girls on my floor... just staying up late at night... and like.. just goofing around... it was more the friendships that were made... that made it a really memorable time for me...

I like my dorm. Its my first year of college. Eventhough I live in a dorm thats old and has no elevators and I live on the 4th floor.

A perk to that is that Im on a almost all woman floor.

So out of the 40 people on the floor i would say im 1 out of 10 or so guys.

And the rest are all girls <_<

did you befriend anyone in your dorms that you believe you otherwise would have never gotten to know?

for me, HKers. i lived next door to 2 rooms of HK people (people from Hong Kong.) prior to that, i've always wanted to hang out with people from hong kong, but i just never had the chance to get to know them b/c they probably saw me as too white washed.

the first year was so much fun with this crowd. we cooked top ramen and rice in our tiny rice cookers late at night. watched h.k. movies on one guy's desktop - all 10 of us crowded in one room. played mahjong on the weekends. and just joked around in Chinese a lot.

after that, i never really made any more real HK friends.

No because of the 4 girls I roomed with. Had to deal with too much drama.

first year i got stuck on an all-girls-floor
(not very social at alllllllllllll -_____-)
and on top of that, i got assigned to a triple
being in a triple...you dont get much time to yourself
(if its not x, then y would be in the room, and the vice versa)

fast forward to this year/second year
luckly, i got a double *wo0t*
and you get to choose your roommate *wo0t x2*
this year's def better than last year

> OHHHH!! and you get to catch someone w/o a towel [revealing their nicee piece of ass] if you're lucky like meehhh! hahahaha :-D

I got to live in these apt style dorms, so I never really got dorm life except at boarding school, which was nice cause otherwise Iwouldn't have gotten to experience it, but it was just too guarded. I seriously don't know anyone else in my building except for my roomates, and that's the way it is for most people. Most of the peopel who live here party too much and make tons of noise and are dumbasses and I can't wait to move out and live in an apt with friends.

dorms are fun, but it's also dirty, nasty and old, and lack privacy.

apartment style dorms are nice, though. you get your own room, you can lock your door and do your own thing [you know  ]........

the downside is that it's so pricey.....

but then i hate living off campus, then you gotta deal with landlord issues....they are cheap assholes....
