And when she says I don't love you
When she says I don't want to see you no more,
Ain't that just like a train passing?
Ain't that just like a train passing?
Ain't that just like a train passing?
Can't you hear that lonesome whistle blow?

[should be accompanied by an acoustic guitar]

To be completely honest, I'm not sure. The verse occured to me as I looked at your photo. But whether I made it up myself (which is possible because the lines don't scan very well) or I'm (mis- ?) remembering someone else's song, I can't really say. If anyone else can recognize it, please chime in.

Why don't you go ahead and use it, and then see if any lawyers contact you? (I'm sure you'll be safe...)

Hear the train whistle blow
The train whistle is whining low.
My man left me; yes, he did go.
The train whistle is whining low.
Hear the train whistle blow.
Hear it blow so lonesome!
Hear the train whistle blow.

just a poem i found...
by Cynthia Helen Summers...

And, hey, let's not forget...

Train I ride, sixteen coaches long
Train I ride, sixteen coaches long
Well that long black train got my baby and gone

Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
Train train, comin' 'round the bend
Well it took my baby, but it never will again

Train train, comin' down, down the line
Train train, comin' down the line
Well it's bringin' my baby, 'cause she's mine all, all mine
(She's mine, all, all mine)

Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
'Round, 'round the bend
Train train, comin' 'round the bend
'Round, 'round the bend
Well it took my baby, but it never will again (no, not again)

—Herman "Junior" Parker & Sam Phillips, "Mystery Train" (a song made famous by Elvis Presley)

Oooo.. since were on the topic of trains.. here's another one...

Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
Every night, every night its just the same
You leave me lonely
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
All my dreams, all my dreams fall like rain
On a downtown train

-Tom Waits

engine engine number nine,
on the new york transit line,
if my train goes off the track
pick it up, pick it up, pick it up.

T.J., now ya got me goin'...

Outside, another yellow moon
Has punched a hole in the nighttime, yes...
I climb through the window
And down to the street
I'm shining like a new dime...

The downtown trains are full...
Full of those Brooklyn girls,
They try so hard to break out of their little worlds...

You wave your hand and they scatter like crows
They have nothing there that will ever capture your heart..
They're just thorns without the rose,
Be careful of them in the dark...

Now, if I was the one
You chose to be your only one...
Oh yeah,
Can't you hear me now?
Can't you hear me now?

Will I see you tonight on a downtown train?
Every night it's just the same...
You leave me lonely, now...

I know your window
And I know that it's late
I know your stairs and your doorway
I walk down your street and past your gate
I stand by the light of the foreway
You watch them as they fall
Oh, baby, they all have heart attacks...
They stay at the carnival
But they'll never win you back...

Will I see you tonight on a downtown train?
Every night, every night it's just the same...
Oh, baby...
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train?
All of my dreams, they fall like rain...
Oh, baby, on a downtown train.

Will I see you tonight on a downtown train?
Every night, every night, it's just the same
Oh, baby...
Will I see you tonight — oh — on a downtown train?
All of my dreams, just fall like rain...
All on a downtown train
All on a downtown train
All on a downtown train
All on a downtown train
Downtown train.

Isn't that a GREAT song!?

What if I told you that Tom Waits and I once did yoga together? Would you believe me?

Hmmm...I thought not...

And then, there's that fabulous song "Train in Vain" by the Clash...

Unfortunately, there's the embarassing fact that the song has nothing whatsoever to do with trains...

OH for realz?! Anyways yeah, he's a great writer. I mean, he wrote the lyrics to Jersey Girl. Anyways, here's another train related song...

Lying awake at night
Thinking about my life
Train rumbling thru our town
Walls shake like they're coming down

I wish I were a train rolling on a track
With three choices
Stop on a dime move ahead or go back
But I can't go back and face the pain
So I lie here and wish I were a train

~Steve Wariner
I Wish I Were a Train...

Back on the scene, Crispy and clean,
You can try, But then why,
Cause you can't intervene.........

You can get with this, Or you can get with that.
I think you'll get with this, Cuz this is where it's at.

Ahhhh yeah, old school jointz.

Sorry couldn't resist.
