Hmmm...what happens if you used it on other types of cheap liquor? Would it make it more "pure?" Theoretically speaking...
Like, say if I used it with unfiltered sake (nigorizake) or makkoli...

This is inspired somewhat by the "expense declarations" thread. For those of you who like to drink but can't afford it, try out a brita water filter with the cheapest vodka you can find.

A brita filter costs about $15 but you can filter a lot of alcohol through it (since you hopefully won't be drinking as much alcohol as water).
Haven't tried it yet, but maybe after finals :)

Sweet! Gonna give this a shot to see if it actually works (after finals...need to stay a wee bit sober till then). Great post!

But the cheap vodka may wear the filter down more than tap water. Plus you're filtering it a few times.
Looks too time consuming though.

Well, I'm imagining people would do this in advance, so they have some good stuff saved up. It would suck to sit and wait for the vodka to be filtered 4 times before drinking it every time.

I did a search on vodka and didn't see it. I can't have telepathic knowledge of every conversation on the board. If someone finds the other thread, feel free to merge.

would this screw up the filter? or would you still be able to use it to make purified (non-alcoholic) water in the future?

I don't exactly remember where but I think it mentions something about soaking it in water then rinsing it out. Other than that, I'd probably buy a seperate Brita filter dedicated to Vodka.
