A Coalition of Artists - Some good, some Evil
Welcome to the next evolution in APIA comedy. From the same comics that brought you "Fertilizing Eggy and Other Stories" comes "A Burning Thing." I caught their show last night and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but all I have to say is that I'm glad I went.
Propergander is a group of mostly UCLA alumni who performed in a sketch comedy act called Lapu the Coyote that Cares (LCC). After they graduated they needed at outlet for some of their comedic genius and Propergander was born. That's their story.
"A Burning Thing", in short, is about a couple, well a particular girl that lights things on fire when she falls in love. The vehicle in which the show moves is this girl and the ex-boyfriend who she falls in love with. Throughout the show, Propergander performs other sketch comedy acts, some consist of things that resonate deeply with APIAs, others, well, others deals with ostriches.
There's a reason that Propergander shows are selling out and it's not because they're inviting their friends. The show is genuinely funny, it's intellegent, and it makes you think about certain issues in your life. Such has having hope, not letting those in your life go, and remembering to laugh.
I highly recommended anyone in the LA area who can go and watch Propergander to see it before the show ends on November 20th. It's showing from October 21st to November 20th, 2004. Tickets are 15 bucks for general admission and 12 bbucks for students. Group rates are available.
It is playing at "The 2100 Square Feet". San Vincente Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90019. The show plays every Thursday, Friday, Saturday night @ 8:00 PM. Doors open at 7:30 PM. Now, GO!
Peace.
Ben
