View Full Version : !@$&* suicidal cats!
So I'm driving down the street on my way to pick up a midnight snack (at Jack in the box!) and all of a sudden this little itty bitty white fuzzy kitten darts out in front of my car forcing me to panic stop and almost getting my cheap-o rental piece of shit sideways as I avoid the damn thing. If my reflexes were just a tad off (if I were drinking, for example) the cute little white kitten quite possibly could have become a fuzzy/bloody smear on the road.
Is it just me or does anyone else run across cats that seem to like playing chicken with passing cars, waiting until the last possible moment to cross, almost as if daring drivers to not stop?
This has happened to me no less than five times. The incident prior, I was driving too fast to stop and actually rolled over (not with the tires) the damn cat. Out of my rearview mirror, I saw the cat do a barrel roll in the street and continue running in one swift motion. I like to think it was okay, but part of me thinks it probably just crawled somewhere quiet and died of internal trauma. Damn cats!

housecats have mentality and instincts left over from tigers and other dangerous relatives. think they're the shit. but evolution hasn't been allowed to send them the message that they don't have the size, power, or speed to back up their bad attitudes, cuz humans keep sheltering them in houses, giving them food every day, taking them to the vet, etc.
if we let darwin's laws take their natural course, cats would become a lot more meek, quiet, and agreeable in a few generations.

that's too funny.
i thought this had to do with the 80 something kitties that were killed or something, cus my friend wrote in her LJ about them.

actually if we are to assume that the cuter the cat is, the more protected/nurtured it is, then darwin's laws did in fact take their natural course. :)
something is giving them an advantage in not being killed.

Such evocative language. lol... Well, I've never ran over a cat or dog in my life, but I've had to swirve away from geese and ducks. I knew someone back in high school who killed her own dog by backing away from her driveway.

ouch... that would ruin a girl's day... or week... or year...
when my father was little, my grandmother slammed my father's hamster against the door by accident when she was opening the door and killed it. hahhah!
and one time when i was on the highway, some bird actually flew right under my wheel and i killed it. i didn't even have time to think to swirve. it happened so quickly.

That's fucking sick.
This one time, I was walking to school and I saw a cat (rather, half a cat) that looked as if whatever hit it had slammed on its brakes as it rolled over it, tearing it to shreds. It literally looked like hamburger meat coming out of it. *shudder*
That image will live with me for the rest of my life.=P

i think lots of people kill birds and bugs while driving. i remember when my auntie used to visit my uncle at college while he was at cal poly san luis obispo. a maroon nissan 200sx. there'd be feathers stuck in the front of the car n stuff. only a little kid then. i liked helping wash the cars. loved it. so much fun. =)

Well, then, next time I make the trek up north, you can help me wash all the bugs that I've collected along with way off my car...=P You kill a grip of bugs traveling on the I-5.

my friend who went to UC davis hit a COw on the way home speeding at about 60mph and he toasted it w/ his civic Si hatch. Also since it was a milk cow he had to pay 1500$ for it and totalled his car.
talkin bout animals i ran over a dead bird today i hit it w/ my 235mm width front and 255mm rear tire and truely flattened it wicked feather trail!
Wow...a cow is mighty impressive.
The best my friend's've done is hitting a stray dog on the freeway with a lowered Accord. It got stuck under his car so he repeatedly tried to dislodqe it by quickly accelerating forwards and backwards. Eventually, a AAA dude had to lift the car with the tow truck and literally yank that poor animal free from the undercarriage. *barf!* That car was cursed.
Another one of my friends saw a possum crossing the street. When it stopped and wouldn't move out of the way, my friend just floored it over the poor animal and my friends in the car were treated to "thump" "thump" as he got it square with both his front and rear wheels. He claims he wasn't trying to hit it but rather scare it. Yep, I think that scared it! What's up with my sick ass friends?!

Hey, that thing's kinda cute, in an ugly kind of way. I bet it wasn't looking so good after you were done with it though... Poor pig-like thing.

My girl wiped out a whole possum family, in one fell swoop in her car. Probably not quality road kill, but I would definitely say quantity.

this has turned into: what've you killed on the road?
buddy barely missed hitting a deer before, on more than one occasion, always with me in passenger's seat. new years we were going fast and it was like iono the thing came outta nowhere. if she didn't press the brakes really fast, we'd crash into the animal, and we reckon the antlers would've killed us.
