I'm wondering who people in our demographic are voting for and why.

I'm leaning toward Kerry right now.

Kerry.

Bush has made such a royal mess of things, I don't see how Kerry could do any worse.

On the affirmative side, Kerry's views are a lot closer to my own than Bush's. However, criticism that Kerry's political positions, especially on war with Iraq, are not especially well-formed, are valid.

Or if not, I'll lift a page from old IBM mainframe manuals: "This ballot deliberately left blank."

I haven't made up my mind yet. Somethings Kerry says about domestic issues I'm for.

Historicly repubs have been strong supporters of the military so Bush has that in his favor.

Haha very funny:P

As expected, Bush:P

And it's not 100% Kerry. 2 have so far decided none :)

I'm very surprised at the results here. Especially with YW being such a politically diverse slice of society and not at all leaning completely to one side of the political spectrum.

Voting for Kerry, I feel that a change of pace is much warranted after these past few years, for reasons of my own.

So where does the average YW'er fit on this diagram? Is there such thing as an average YW'er? I remember taking one of those tests and found out I'm pretty much far left and Libertarian.

Kerry/Edwards btw.

Hell Kerry is jus a few steps behind Bush. I guess it probly won't matter which one you vote for.

So where does the average YW'er fit on this diagram? Is there such thing as an average YW'er?The sad thing is, several YWers have taken this same quiz and most do not end up in the same quadrant as Bush, Kerry, or Peroutka. Most end up on the lower-left, more "extreme" than Cobb and Nader. We had a couple people fall into the lower-right, more Keynesian than Badnarik. We had one person fall barely on the upper-left, in the "collective" area. I tried to find that topic with results but can't.

The point between Kerry and Bush is more telling of where a majority of America is... or what the two parties have become?

kerry. because:

-i don't believe america is ready to kiss roe v. wade goodbye.
-i think bush is either a) a liar with no conscience when he told the country that there were weapons of mass destruction, b) a dumb asshole for deliberately not looking into the matter and just blindly believing everything his administration spoonfed him because he was lazy, or c) just a moron.
-i don't appreciate a president who incorporates his own religion/faith into practically every public statement he makes, thereby directly violating our 1st Amendment guarantee for the separation of church and state
-after drawing the line and alienating our former allies in deciding to invade iraq, he confuses osama bin laden and saddam in a public statement (probably heard by our former allies)
-his tax cuts are for who?
-a president who would declare on television his desire to scowl upon hearing an opinion that he does not agree with is a monkey, and a dangerous monkey when given the sort of power that he currently possesses (hence, the number of americans that died in iraq.)
-i'm sure we'll be seeing more dead infants in dumpsters if he passes his much-advocated "parental notification" requirement for abortions. especially from asian girls who are already terrified of their parents when it comes to stuff like this

notice that the bush supporters have failed to answer latter part of the question posed - who are they voting for and why?

my guess is that they are for bush for this very reason. they don't pay attention to the issues and the actual questions being asked, and therefore they don't even realize that the candidate they are voting for frequently has trouble properly answering them.

Who are you directing that to? I've already stated my reasons as to who I'm voting for (Bush) and why. And I do pay attention to the issues and the actual questions being presented.

Everyone has their own reason(s) for voting for whomever. Some it's the war for others it's taxes. There are alot of people who don't care about the war, just like there are others who don't care about Roe vs. Wade.

I'm a military guy. That's my life, my career. I vote for who I feel will best serve me and my interests.

i change my mind, i'm voting for David Cobb of the green party

ism
10-11-2004, 09:26 PM
The fact that Cobb and Badnarik were willing to get arrested on principle of moving the election process forward, not really for themselves, but for their party, speaks volumes of their will and determination. They would rather have you vote for their party on the local levels though, until the election process is more condusive to third/multiple parties. Nader is simply riding on whatever party will take him and find it hard to consider him based on that. Kerry and Bush are too alike. That leaves Peroutka. =D

I'm voting for Kerry, because Bush didn't deserve to be there in the first place.

SunWuKong
10-12-2004, 08:30 AM
i'm voting not-Bush.
Bush is probably better for business, which i like, but i don't like pretty much anything else about his policies. and voting 3rd party would be throwing my vote away, so i'm voting Kerry, whose stance on the war and women's rights i like more than Bush's.

Another vote for Kerry, primarily because he's not Bush. I actually worry about the future of this country with Bush at the helm. But I also agree with Kerry's tax policies, his take on the war in Iraq, his stance on abortion, education, etc. I haven't really looked into any independents because I cannot handle another four years of Bush. Even though I'm in California, I don't wanna risk it.

I can understand why some people would vote for Bush because they agree with his tax policies or his stance on religion, abortion and what not. But I cannot believe people would vote for him based on how he's handled the war on terror and the invasion of Iraq. It astounds me that people could be so...shortsighted.
