and if not, would you encourage them to vote? how would you go about talking to them about it?

Almost everyone who has a citizenship votes. The only person I can think of who doesn't is one of my brothers.
I call him a dork and tell him to vote. Not very conducive, but, whatever.
You can't really force a person to vote.

Yup. I used to go with my dad every year to pull the lever. I did that with my mom too. My sister votes also.

my parents started voting last election, and they'll vote again in this one. my sister just turned 18 this past summer. i told him to get registered, she said ok, but i don't know if she really did it. i think we've already passed the registration deadline for FL.

I think sister would be very offended ;) haha
My mom has been coming with me to the polls, the last two years. We were very gung ho about getting the other mayoral candidate into office, last year. She'll definitely be voting next month, as well.
My dad doesn't vote. He doesn't see the point. He's got the all-politicians-are-evil and my-one-vote-doesn't-matter mentality.

My father is voting for the first time this election; mom and grandma vote every time. Usually, he doesn't care enough to do so.
Not sure about sibling.

my family is the epitome of the non-voting Asian American family. I think I will be the first to ever vote, period. hopefully they'll catch on.
