This is a touchy topic but I thought the Hapa forum is more appropriate than the Rant Room. Just keep it halfway civil.

Are Asians more likely to accept white mixed Asians than non-white mixed Asians? Is there a hierarchy like the intra-Asian hierarchy?

hahhah sorry there aren't any postings on this thread HH... i am not sure there are any non euro mixed asians trafficking this site. and personally, i've seen them but haven't known any.

That's not what I'm asking which is why I think this topic is being met with noting but cricket chirps.
I'm asking what the reality is for non-white mixed Asians in Asian culture. Not... should they be treated fairly, but how are they realistically viewed? I personally think they have it a lot harder considering the views I've heard from Asians about blacks, hispanics, etc.
I guess to a certain extent it would be interesting to note how non-white Asians fair in Asia. Amongst Asian-Asians.
If no one else posts anything, I will.

I think blasians and chinaricans get the most shit, from what have I seen. So yes, I think euromixed asians are more easily accepted.

I want to put my two cents in...(just some observations)...
However, I'm writing this at 2:35am in the morning...
No, I don't think either Asian/White or Asian/Black hapas have it worse or better...
I think you just hear more of the Asian/White....(although, some of the biggest names happen to be Asian/Black)...
Hey now that's an interesting thought that hadn't occured to me. In America, some of the most famous mixed Asians are black/Asian. In Asia, it seems to be the opposite.
That's an excellent observation at 2:35 in the morning.

are you talking about specifically those who do identify with being mixed? because there are many white/asian mixed people who don't publicly identify with being mixed or asian.

Here's the prob: I've never seen his English name. I know you were interested so I did an internet search... yielding nothing. Maybe someone here will know something about Cha Ka Li?

actually there quite a few mixed asian/white female celebrities in HK (not nearly as many male equivalents though for some reason). but i haven't heard of any famous mixed asian/black celebrities. there is even a chinese/indian mixed actress/singer.

In Vietnam, (I think it was posted on this site or elsewhere) you have many Amerasian offspring (of Black or White fathers) who are making a living side by side, by what I saw...

I think the answers to this post are quite flawed. I don't think that it was intended to talk about celebrities but about normal people with everyday lives.
I mean, Tiger Woods? Do you think Asians would accept him as one of their own if he couldn't golf? I certainly don't think so.
I don't think we can use celebs in this discussion because everyone wants to take credit for celebs.
If I became president of the USA people in Korea and KA's alike would say how great it is to have one of their own in the whitehouse. But they look at me now and see me as an outsider, that is, unless they get to know me.

From what I've seen, at least among Filipinos, they idolize the half whites. Not sure about the blacks or any other mixed Filipino, but the ones you hear about more that gets a "positive" feedback are the Filipinos who are mixed with white. So with that said, I think that other non-white mixed Asians are treated differently.
Of course, back home...we don't distinguish that at all.

Black people are good CELEBRITIES.</satire> Well that is how people think. White/Asians, will have it easier. Racism towards blacks exist just as much against asians. And our s. types in someways are A LOT worse. Asians are considered hard-working. Blacks are lazy. So yeah. If you are part black/asian, <satire> Oakland cops will beat you like the next nigger </satire>

Race is how people see you not what you are. Fredrick Douglass was considered white, and got ALL the benefits of a white man in his time. And that is during the time of the Civil War, goes to show.

I think Eurasians do have it easier than someone like me. White people always have it easier.
It seems to me that where ever you are in the world except afrika, The darker your skin the lower you are on the social ladder.
So it stands to reaosn (to me anyway) that a blasian would occupy a lower social rung than a Eurasian.

I know there's more to life than looks (what some would call "being objectified"), but I just wanted to say that some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen have been mixed black & Asian — Kimora Lee Simmons, for one. Personally, I think it's absolutely great that mixing the races can yield such wonderous results. I think of it as nature's way of telling me that it's pro-misegenation...
So, I guess the trick is: How do we as a society translate physical appreciation into genuine social equality?

I wouldn't say that. If the entire world was white, they wouldn't have it easier. If they got shipped off to some weird place where people ate white people, they wouldn't have it easier. If they got sent someplace where THEY were the foreigners, they wouldn't have it easier. And in a room full of all Asian people, they wouldn't have it easier.
*Sigh* So quick to look down on your own skin color...

Well, I've been in a few situations where I'd be in a room full of asians, and hapas. I'd be the only black hapa, all the others were eurasians. The eurasians were generally accepted, I for the most part was not. I know other people who are black/asian speak on this, I'm not the only one.
But on the flip side, I do have a couple of eurasian friends. And we can talk about our similiar experiences. Perhaps it's just a case-by-case thing.

Do you experience discrimination/racism from eurasians as well as Asians? Is it the same or different? Don't be afraid of offending anyone. Just tell it like it is.

Like I said this doesn't happen all the time. I don't want anybody to get the impression that this happens with all of them, but some eurasians generally act like their "white" friends. And its bascially just sort of an ostraciazation thing. Whatever. The majority of eurasians I've met were cool about it though.
As for Asians, it's kinda mixed. I knew one FOB chinese girl in middle school. She was cool with it I guess, mostly because she was for the only asian kid in a school of about 300-400 people. So I guess she felt a bit of a "connection".
When I visit the local Asian food market, the two Korean women who run the shop seem OK enough with it, but they speak in Korean half the time when I'm there, and of course I have no idea what they're saying, for all I know they could be talking about me and my mom......
When I go to any other little cheap Chinese takeout place with my mom (and me going with my mom is the only way they'd ever know I was half-asian, I look black for the most part) they either don't say anything and I get treated like a normal customer, or they make a comment, like "Is that your son?" "Oh, he's so tall!" "Tall is good!" or something like that.
The asian kids at my school (some of which are fob others are american-born), don't seem to care, or don't know. I have a couple of eurasian friends and like I said I feel like I can relate to them, sometimes even more than I can relate to black people.
But I do have to admit that I get a bit nervous in a crowd full of nothing but whites, asians and/or eurasians. Like when my mom discovered a japanese-language church here in town and she wanted me to come. I was a bit nervous, being around japanese kids (I've probably said this before, but I don't know any japanese here where I live, so this was a new experience). She said, well some kids are half-American too. I know she said that to make me feel better about being not fully japanese, but that didn't help much, cause i know by "American" she meant white. I'm a bit uncomfortable being so obviously the only darker-skinned kid there. And obviously they'd ask, "what are you doing here?" and I'd half to explain about my mom being japanese, and well I don't like explaining all that anyway, I'm sure many hapas, eurasians or not, can relate to that.
In the end, I didn't go. I'm a chicken anyway. I probably should've. I'd like to get to know some more hapas, eurasians or otherwise. I wanna get to know some more full-blooded asians too. The ones that I do know I met through some white friends. Some eurasians didn't even believe me when I told them that I was half-asian.

The hottest women I have dated were blasians and china-ricans. But hot is hot to me, don't really care about roots.
One blasian I've dated when I was med school was a dead ringer for Kimora Lee, till this day I would say she was one of the hottest women I have ever dated. But overall looking back, I definitely preferred Blasians and China-ricans lookwise than Eurasians, as a dating preference.

I think what I said in that quote was taken a bit out of context. I meant, how do asians view blasians/chinaricans, etc. in general. I could care less how attractive they see the women, quite frankly.

My only experience with something like this is with a fob Korean guy. My friend was married to a Mexican woman. Kids Japanese/Mexican. Korean fob treated me like trashy mutt and Japanese guy's kids like gold... until he found out they were actually half Mexican. Then he treated them like me, trashy mutt.
