it's not quite stinky tofu but it's still fermented goodness. comes in a jar.

ahh, hmm...okay, then what i'm thinking of now is called fu yu (cantonese). it's also in a jar and it's really salty so you only eat a lil bit with each bite of rice or whatever you eat it with. sometimes i like it, but usually the flavor is a bit too overwhelming for me.

yup that's 豆腐乳. "fu yu" in Cantonese is 腐乳.

ooh i've never tried that. i don't have 饅頭 very much (not southern food) but generally i like to dip it in something sweet like condensed milk. i usually just put 腐乳 on rice. it's good on some greens, too.

I find it hilarious SWK especially imed this thread to me, and I subsquently ignored it because I was looking at p.... researching something. Anyway, I only like the jar of spiciness too, it makes a college student who can't really cook life's easier because if I fuck anything up I can just dump some in.
