There's a Vons across the street so you can have your choice of bringing your own food/bev or we can all order pizza and have it delivered. If you're interested in joining us, please post up so I can get a complete listing of people.

hey, i thought you lived in chinatown? I moved out about 3 months ago to West LA. Hehe, guess I didn't tell much people.

One of the reasons was it gave me a clearer shot to Long Beach during my commute. That and I'm living with the director of the short film I'm working on in terms of the soundtrack and a little bit of editing. Overall the move is paying off pretty well in terms of work efficiency and school.

benitos RULES. last time i went, a few months ago, i forgot where exactly it was, so i spent 30 minutes driving around that area (and getting on and off the freeway back to OC) with my friend before we finally found it. at like 2am.

rich, i wanna go! but i can't. :frown: maybe if it was 2 weekends after that! (i'm heading down there Oct. 15.)
have fun!!!

Oh yeah, Oct. 15th is the day of my performance @ Rooms. I'll post up later on that. But it'll be my last music performance since I need to concentrate on school. :frown:

I'm going to try to make it though I'll probably be late (isn't 7:00 kinda early??). As Ronnie's been wanting to see this, she's going to be making a special appearance all the way from SD, too.

What exactly is "Infernal Affairs?"

Here's the recent review by Rolling Stones:
Maybe you've heard that this flat-out fabulous Hong Kong police thriller will soon spawn an American remake starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, to be directed by Martin Scorsese. Sign me up.
But do not, by any means, skip the original, which throbs with action, suspense and a seductive rhythm all its own. The plot is hard-line basic: Yan (Tony Leung) is a cop who has lived undercover in a triad gang for a decade and is near meltdown. Ming (Andy Lau) is a gangster passing as a police officer and nearing his own breaking point. Neither realizes who the other is. But both the internal-affairs cops and the gang boss Sam (comic actor Eric Tsang, in a menacingly effective change of pace) know a mole has infiltrated their midst. Yan turns to the only cop privy to his secret identity, his supervisor (the superb character actor Anthony Wong brings gravity, grace and sly wit to the role). Then, as action convention demands, all hell breaks loose.

It's a tribute to co-directors Andrew Lau and Alan Mak that almost nothing about Infernal Affairs follows the rules. Asian superstars Leung and Lau give bruising, brilliant performances that transcend genre. The film prowls the night with a lit-by-neon intensity that recalls Michael Mann's Collateral but illuminates a very special circle of hell reserved for those guilty of betrayal. The filmmakers rub our noses in violence yet cut deepest in moments of agonizing quiet, including a climactic rooftop scene between Yan and Ming. This is a movie that gets its hooks into you early, and no chance is it letting go.

at least until you can figure out that there's another dude in the movie that looks just like edison.

i ALWAYS work better when I'm inebriated.

you have no idea how much i wish i could smoke and drink beers while i work. luckily in a couple of months i should be allowed to telecommute two non-consecutive days a week (Monday and Friday count as consecutive), so i'll be working from home for 2 days a week, in my underwear or naked, smoking ciggies and watching TV/porn at the same time.

yeah, definitely not for the weak minded. You have to really watch it a couple times and involve yourself with the movie.

I had a chance to get all three on VCD or DVD in Chinatown a few months ago, but thanks to the resurgence of interest in the films, due to the release of the 1st one in theaters, they've all been nicked up...

I don't mind seeing the first one in the theaters, but it woulda been cool to see all three back to back at my leisure on a lazy Sunday. I'm still checking for them, though.

well, it's three movies. there's the original one, then a prequel, and then a sequel. i don't care much for the 3rd one (the sequel), but i like the original and especially the prequel.
