Anyone here gamble for fun on a vacation? We're big wussies and only visit the nickel machines - and that's if we're feeling adventurous. I was a big lamer in Vegas and Macau.
Do you like casino action for relaxation? Are you any good? What's your favorite place to go to gamble and what's your game if you have one?

blackjack
nowadays i prefer mohegan sun over the casinos in atlantic city for a weekend gambling fest. atlantic city is ghetto.
take the chinese tour bus for ten bucks and get a free voucher for buffet and twenty dollar gambling voucher.

they do.
and when you go during chinese new years, they have MJ tournaments.
i play MJ at times when i'm at the casino. i prefer blackjack cuz i can get a better read and it's at a faster pace.
i'm not that good at MJ.

oh wow i didn't know that. i guess with the number of bus loads of old Chinese folks going to Atlantic City every weekend, it's only a sensible business move to have mahjong.
but they're undercutting the triads! damn white people.

here in ny, the chinese buses to atlantic city, foxwoods and mohegan sun give you more perks. the trip essentially pays for itself i.e. free buffet voucher and twenty dollar gambling voucher, for a ten dollar bus ticket.
it's not a bad thing to do if you're bored one day during a weekend.
gamble away twenty bucks and eat a buffet.
a few times we pooled our twenty dollar vouchers together on the fortune wheel on 10 to 1 odds slot and walked away with $1000 ($200 bucks each).

and i lost it all on the roulette table. and then some!
i'm bad luck.
people start losing money when i go near them.
casinos should hire me as a cooler.
i'd be perfect.

I rarely go to casino although it only takes about 1.5 hours for me to get to Lake Charles, LA. But man when I go to Vegas or Atlantic City I get out of control. It's kinda fun when you go with your buddies. I play games like crap, roulette, blackjak, paigow poker, 3-card poker, carribean studs, etc. BTW, crap table is a good place to hook up with girls but only when they win. I once met a girl at blackjack table and all of us ended up hanging out together for the rest of the trip.

Is Mohegan better than Foxwoods? Or even closer?
I avoid AC. After going to Vegas, AC is so bad in comparison. If you just want to gamble, go Indian.

i like mohegan sun better than foxwoods. but, foxwoods is a lot bigger.
mohegan sun is closer than foxwoods if you're coming up from ny.

atlantic city is ghetto. AC is a fucking shithole. Macau, inexplicably, manages to be even worse.
Whenever I'm in a casino, I always intend to play Hold 'Em, but long lines and tables clusterfucked with smelly guys always turn me away in the direction of the nearest blackjack table, with blackjack being the perfect vacation gambling because one doesn't necessarily lose any more money while drunk than while sober.

beats me.
i had decent luck with it a few times. i won $400 on a 20 to 1 odd all by myself when i went to atlantic city with my brother and a couple of friends years back. i then used the $400 on blackjack and made another $400 or so.
the voucher is only good for certain games at a certain area.
if you win, it's basically your gambling money right there. if you lose, no biggie. the voucher came with the bus ticket anyways.

yeh seriously what is up with the texas hold em poker tables. i can't even concentrate with the clusterfuck going on at the tables. for the first time ever, i felt claustrophobic.

I've only been to indian casinos:
1. Spirit Mountain Casino - only the buffet
2. Morongo Casino Resort & Spa
3. Cache Creek Casino Resort
4. River Rock Casino
I was too chicken to play tables until I went to River Rock with Ben. He bought in $100 at $10 tables and after a while I mustered the courage to play. It seems that I have better luck playing with other peoples' money than my own. I started with $50 in chips at a $10 blackjack table and left with $300. At my peak, I must've had nearly $500.
Morongo is probably my favorite of the ones I've been to. The casino is relatively new and the rooms are really nice. Drink girls are more efficient here though sometimes you have to order through the dealer. People say that service at these sorts of casinos don't compare to Vegas. If you're playing $100 hands, you shouldn't have to wait for your drink.
Gambling is bad.

I've heard of Morongo. It's in socal, right? I wasn't aware that Cache Creek was an Indian Casino.
I like to enter the No Limit Hold 'em Tournaments. I tend to shy away from the re-buy garbage, as I don't like having to take the same idiot out more than once. Oh, and I do get awfully tired of getting stuck next to someone smelly. It's never happened to me in Vegas, though.
My favorite money making game (if fortune should so be smiling at me that day) would have to be 21. I bet big in Blackjack in order to make the table more exciting.
Only recently, I've been stopping ever so briefly by the $.25 slot machines, but only the ones with five pay lines.

Yeah, Morongo is about 40 minutes from Riverside.
Cache Creek used to be 18+ but they changed it to 21+ last year. I don't know how stringent their age policy is though, because I was able to gamble there a few weeks ago and I'm 20. A couple of times I was scared the pit boss was going to ID me because she kept talking to me. Cheap shot at trying to distract me from the game.
Have you ever been to Jackson Rancheria? I think my cousin goes there to play in hold-em tourneys.

The closest casinos to me are Feather Falls, Gold Country, and Thunder Valley. I've never actually been to Cache Creek or Jackson Rancheria, but I'll have to check them out sometime. Then, maybe if I meet your cousin heads up on the final table, I'll do something I normally don't and offer him a chop.
Haha, at the old strip in Las Vegas, when I was too young to gamble, I remember being a little nervous. When I turned 21, though, I proudly offered my ID, and the dealers would reply, "Do you really want me to check your ID?" I guess they don't care so much there. I noticed it's very similar in Reno as well.
gambling is not relaxing for me. i play Blackjack and i get too stressed out when i lose. when my bf plays, i hover over him and try to get him to bet less. i'm annoying to have at a casino.
i've played in Reno and Vegas.
