Do you know how to perform a self prostate exam?

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. A good majority of men by the time they become senior citizens would have developed prostate cancer.

It is easily detected via self examination and physician examination.

Self Prostate Examination Technique (gotta do it sooner or later!)

Most folks are surprised by how deep they have to reach.

Not me.

Thanks for posting this bunboy...definitely necessary and something we all probably overlook or avoid.

I had my prostate checked when I went in for my physical just before going to college.

We were going through the whole process, the nurse was checking my nuts and stuff, and then she says, "since you're 18 we'll have to check your prostate also, but it's up to you, i can skip it today, but you'll have to do it sooner or later." I was like, prostate? Since I was already standing there with my pants off I decided I might as well do it. So she reaches into this huge can of KY and shoves her finger up my asshole. OH my!

I guess I didn't wipe all the KY off my ass cuz when I was checking out and walking out to my car, my cheeks were squishy. Man, I couldn't walk straight and it was unpleasant when I had to sit down and drive.

The whole process only takes less than a minute or so, but it has damaged me for life.

"rather die of cancer then feel violated like that."

Let me just say that since it has to be done, in order to make the experience as uneventful as possible, insist on a nice female nurse or female doctor (try for attractive too!).
They are more sensitive and caring than the male drs. and assuming you're not gay. My experience at the dr's office was with an attractive, young Asian female dr. who was extremely caring. I was so impressed by her manner that I requested she be my permanent physician. Unfortunately, my company changed insurances and I was forced onto another provider. I still think of how nice she was though. If you guys out there had someone like her examining you, you all would be booking multiple exams guaranteed!!

Yah good point, GC. Wylin, I don't want you to go out like that, I still need you to tweak my car, foo.

I for one think I am very sensitive, gentle and caring MD <_<. Whatever bad things the other members told you, just remember it's not true!

But book me an appointment with the MD that examined ya, anyways! :D. Helloooooooooooo hot looking Asian female doctor.

Ideally it's when you go in for your yearly for a full physical when you're about that age. But whenever you're up to doing a routine full physical your primary care physician should suggest a prostate exam.

Bottomline: Purpose of these tests are for early detection so it can be more easily treated. So it doesn't hurt to be safe than sorry.
