BEIJING, Sept.6 (Xinhuanet) -- A woman fell from her fifth-floor apartment in Southwest China’s Chengdu City — into the arms of her husband, Sunday's Southern Metropolitan News reported.
The woman, who accidentally fell from her balcony, suffered only minor injuries. She hit an awning on the third floor and a power line on the second floor, said an eyewitness surnamed Huang.
The woman’s husband caught her just in time, said Huang.
The woman told police she fell accidentally. Her husband said he went out to buy cigarettes after having quarreled with his wife. He saw her sitting on the balcony when he came back. The next minute, he saw her falling. He rushed and caught her, he said.
Neighbors were happy even though the woman broke a power line in the fall causing the power to be cut for almost an hour.

dang, she must have been really skinny or he, really buff. someone falling from 2 stories probably accumulates enough force to break some bones if you're not careful.

Yeah, you'd think under normal circumstances the dude would have broken his back.
But you hear, from time to time, about super human strength oozing out of people at incredible times for some heroic deed.
The dude was probably in that state.
Moral of this story. Don't argue with your honey -- if you can avoid it.

I found that funny too.

Funny?
Sad.
The woman attempted suicide by jumping out her place. That's some depressed mental state.
I'd have difficulty being with someone after something like that. I'd be worrying about their mental state all the time, when we argue.

the article doesn't say that she attempted suicide?

You're right.
I heard this story on the radio, and thought I recalled "suicide".

i don't know... suicide is -- well i think -- still something shameful, so maybe they wouldn't report it as such? the "accidental" nature is a bit suspicious, especially after an quarrel... maybe a full fledged "domestic incident"?

We'll probably never know her real intent.
But just imagine that your SO does do something like that.
Would you just take her at her word? That it was an accident?

You're not the type commit suicide, period. Right? Too strong willed.

Heh, after an argument even. I'd get a good laugh if he caught then dropped her on her ass and went, "That's right, bitch. Next time you better appreciate me cause I ain't catching you the next time you decide to go off on me."

Oooo. I'm thinkin' that there are probably a few YW females that might not take to kindly to calling this woman a "biyatch".
You know, even if her fall was broken by the awning and the powerline, trying to catch, let's say, 100 pounds from two stories up is quite a feat.

Lol, like I would say it myself. It's just an amusing scenario considering the circumstances and the fact that he actually caught her. Hell, if the roles were switched around it'd be just as funny.

or when maggie rescues homer from drowning... i wonder if there are any pictures of the building? it'd probably be possible to calculate what velocity she had right before he caught her... i'd kinda like to know what it was, being the nerd that i am...
