Life is about progress, isn't it? So that means when you start a job with an X salary, as time passes, you'd like to make a 1.5X or 2X salary. Why shouldn't you, right? If you're that dedicated, don't you deserve to be paid more?

Excuse I used to justify why I quit my job. $7.50/hour after 8 years of working at Macy's? Gimme a goddamn break. What a BS job. I only worked there for a month or so, but I'm done. DONE. DONE!

Considering applying for a job with the city. Work hours kinda bite, though. M-F from 4 til 8. It's a desk job. My friend who works with the city suggested it to me. Few problems though. Starting work at 4 is cutting it kinda close. I go to school 20 minutes away from home and school lets out at 3:10P. It takes more or less 30 minutes by train. I don't drive. My friend who lives near me drives me. Sometimes she likes going to get food, go grocery shopping, just normal blah stuff after school and we don't get home til after 4. I need to make money to pay back my parents for my cell phone bill and.. other stuff. Spending money, this and that, just money! Should I apply for the job and bring this up with whoever my boss may be? Or another job? Promise to pay my parents back another time? I do have applications and whatnot to fill for college, and a future ahead of me that I need to plan for and think about. Narf. Any suggestions?

Progress and upward mobility is good, but not at the expense of paying of debts and loans (or being able to delay paying them without penalty lol).

Should start planning and looking at colleges if you plan on going.

Our amie stepping out to the real world <wipes tear from eye>, they grow up so fast.

tell the 'rents your situation..maybe they'll understand.

but anyways, them big companies pay their employees crap....I get paid more on campus than I did when I worked at CVS for the summer 2 summers ago

.. .yeah close to 7 dollars after 2 yrs of working for the department..yeah notetaking.

you can try working at a temp agency. diversifieds in the bay area is pretty good. they can hook you up with a job that pays $15-20/hr, which isn't bad when you're in high school, right?

If anything try to get your feet in to any job whether it's the city or any company. Get the experience, pick up recognition, network, and who knows, maybe it'll lead to others liking you and a permanent position.

the closest thing i've got to someone liking me is a drunken monkey kind who dedicated red red wine to me.

Well, didn't MK say he was unemployed. So, not likely to help you find a position. On a serious note though, for the most part people seem to get hired based on whether or not they like you.

Make a good impression, with people it's always about first impressions
