LA Times Poll Shows Bush Leading Kerry

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - President Bush has pulled ahead of Democratic challenger John Kerry for the first time this year in a Los Angeles Times poll, the newspaper reported on Wednesday in its online edition.

The survey taken Saturday through Tuesday showed that 49 percent of registered voters favored Bush, while 46 percent preferred Kerry. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Survey responses indicated that Kerry had been hurt by attacks on his Vietnam service record by Bush backers, the Times said.

In a poll taken just before the Democratic convention last month, Kerry had a 2 percentage point lead over Bush, the newspaper said.

The Times Poll interviewed 1,597 adults nationwide, including 1,352 registered voters.

Bush is a low guy. Slimy and grimey in just about every way one can be.

If I was a registered voter, I really wouldn't throw my vote to neither the Republicans nor the Democrats; both of their candidates just aren't fit to be the pres.

I depends on what your #1 issue of concern is and also if in Iraq you believe the ends justify the means.
A strong pro-lifer or a pro-military guy who thinks that the ends (a free Iraq) justify the means (an unjust war), would support Bush.

well said. most of his support is coming from the midwest, I don't know how anyone could live in that area.

What the White House says also gets amplified by FOX News and right-wing talk radio. I heard of a study that showed that 80% of people who get their news primarily from FOX believe that Iraq had WMDs. This figure doesn't surprise me: I've actually heard Hannity state outright that WMDs were found. Fucking Hannity.

People are stupid. We have some of them on these forums. Funny tho, you would think lots of folks in New England would be on his side, conservative and all that jazz, being rich and what not but the vast majority do not support him. Which is very very good. But will it be good enough?

Or they don't think Kerry's any better. Seriously Kerry isn't any better.
Personally I just want to show Bush that you can't mislead us into war and get away with it. That's what I'm voting not-Bush.

Why the hell would you think that New Englanders would support Bush? You really thought that the people who gave us the Kennedys and Kerry would support Bush?

I'm just itching to say what I've been saying; that the far-left is out-of-touch. They just don't understand why half of America supports Bush. It's because once you get beyond all the propoganda, Bush = Kerry. What are the major differences in policy? Abortion... MAYBE taxes... I think that's about it.

His policies help people up here out. And many of them are pretty conservative. The Kennedys are not average New Englanders BTW. Aside from being rich, they're pretty unique. Don't forget, this is also the region that gave you the Bushes.

I heard a poll conducted by some group found 50% of Americans still believe that Iraq has WMD's.

My sister believes that Bush should stay in office because she thinks Kerry, alongside all Democrats, are "pussies."

Not all rich people are conservative and not all old money families are Republican. If I was an American citizen I'd probably be a moderate Democrat and I'm pretty sure the same would apply to most of my family members. I have relatives in Rhode Island and Vermont and they've always been old money Democrats even if the Republicans did "help them out." They're also far from conservative.

Oh, and stupid people are everywhere. But you can't blame them for many of the things they say and do. Some individuals are simply easier to influence and control. There's a saying that goes something like, "Once you abandon the ability to think for yourself you abandon the right to self-determination." Or something like that.

I know all about folks like tht, it's just rather suprising. You'd think they'd be voting for Republicans, especially if you've mt some of these folks here.
