WOuld it make you feel insecure or less of a man if your wife made more money than you?

Not at all, I'd be proud of them. As long as that income didn't come at the expense of not spending any time with family.

according to statistic, men who make less money than their wives are more likely to become depressed. it wouldn't bother me that he made less money, but i think if i were the guy, it'd be a big hit to my ego, and that'd pull me down a little.

(hey get back to your own topic! :P) guys don't wanna comment? since i'm planning to be a math professor, i better get rid of any kinda insecurity i have about this real fast, cuz pretty much every girl I know is gonna be making more money than me in the future.

Yeah, I wouldn't care, because basically everyone I've dated makes more than me at this point.

Just asking because I was talking to some of my girlfriend's female friends and some of them want their husbands to be the main bread winner or make more than they do.

Though I know some friends who've said they'd feel exactly this, I see absolutely no reason for it. In fact, I think it's plain backwards and stupid. "Traditional" attitudes like this in men do nothing but cause men to act as if they're in competition with their women (and women as a whole) which, I think, can lead to further oppression of women. I for one would love to be married to a woman who made more money than I. That just means more money for us and the family. How is this not possibly a great thing?

Depends...like if i'm making 30 k and she's making 50 k, then it would be sad. But if i'm making 100 k and she's making 200 k, hell, more family income is always good. The way i think about it is as long as i make myself a respectable income, i don't care how high the wife's income is. And if she wants to act arrogant around me, well Psycho Lama his ways. :)

Personally, I don't believe romantic relationships would be competitive. That, in and of itself would make my spouse's earning capacity a moot point.
