Watched a few DVDs the last two weeks:

The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi
It sucked ass. CGI blood...bleh.

Blade: Trinity
It sucked ass too. WTF, more CGI blood.

Alien vs Predator
Sad enough this was the *good* movie. I read the comic book version of this many moons ago. Been looking forward to this, tho I wasn't too impressed.

Really? I actually liked it. (Not loved, mind you). And I'm not remotely a Beat Takeshi fan. Loved Twighlight Samurai though.

I just pretend this one was never made and love the first two.

It was. I liked how they handled the female lead. She was strong but they didn't make her Superbitch and it did actually follow some of the comic book plots. Or at least similar themes with the heroine joining forces with the predator.

I think this is mostly cause I watched one of the original films and the characterizations were pretty different in my opinion. Takeshi's Ichi acts like a real bad-ass that's too obvious, even bitter. It's like he's about to explode. Probably a Takeshi thing. One of the old one's has Zatoichi very relaxed, even silly at times. Plus the old storylines have a tragic hero feel to them.

Oh, it didn't help that Takeshi's character had blond hair and blue eyes. It just didn't appeal to me. =(

Maybe someone already mentioned this but I just watched "Gegen die Wand" it was pretty good. Two German Turks who are both depressed and attempt suicide meet each other in the hospital and get married for convenience. The man can barely speak Turkish and he ends up in prison for killing a guy. Meanwhile his wife moves to Istanbul and becomes a drug addict, nearly gets murdered, etc. and when the man gets out of prison he goes to look for her.
I liked Birol's character a lot. He doesn't seem to have any family and no direction in life, just drink and sex. Doesn't fit in with German or Turkish society.

Seven Swords with Donnie Yen as a caveman...okee, not really, but his hair cracks me up. I keep falling asleep right before the last fight scene. I promise that's not an indication of the quality of the movie. I'm just really really tired.

We have that movie, Donnie Yen is comedy gold. "Don't let them treat you like a slave! Ok, I'm going to pull you by the hair over here now." Good film, though.

We watched "Jungle Juice," last night. This movie is freaking hilarious. HIH. LARE. EE. USSSSS.

portray our beloved jane austen.
i mean really, i just couldnt bring myself
to watch that movie when i found out
who was portraying her.

i saw shopgirl couple of days ago.

if you liked the book, you'd love the movie.

I'm waiting on Stardust (STFU, if I'm gonna read a fantasy book, I might as well watch the movie first. =P).

Resident Evil: Extinction, in all it's zombified goriness, is two wks away. Friggen giddy, I am. (and apparently, I've lost all sense of clausal ettiquette).

There was another fantasy movie coming out too, but I forgot what it was. Man. I need to get out and catch these trailers more often.
