Nah, that's generally how wedding photos go in Taiwan. Hell, they even made me look good. They're better than ILM.

edit: and it's not just brides that insist, it's parents too. guys get makeup and hairdone as well.

Even HKers go to Taipei to have their wedding album done. I'd highly recommend it even if you're parents aren't already demanding it. The process isn't fun at all but when you're both older and even uglier you can look back and say, "Damn, we were some airbrushed hotness once upon a time, eh?"

Prices usually include hair and makeup professionally done, you choose a negotiated amount of outfits, scenes and albums for about half to a third of what you'd equivalently pay for pictures only in the US. And best of all *drum roll* no copyright issues. Make sure you get the negatives and you won't have to pay for future reprints in human sacrifice to the photographer.

oh yes. there is hope for me.
these are pictures they're going to keep in their family
for generations.
why wouldn't you take advantage of the wonders
of technology and make up?
i'm more partial to the documentary style photographing
of wedding photographers but i'm definitely all for
airbrushing.

Not sure how your avatar picture could be made over, exactly.

I think all the women are pretty good looking to begin with.
And everybody knows yellowworld women are gorgeous.

i've done those things before. it's kinda like glamourshots or whatever in the u.s., only way more hardcore.

it was very strange. i was like fourteen, and my mom and my sister and our entire extended family went for family photos. they dressed us up in evening gowns, and bridal gowns and stuff. peculiar. glammy, but peculiar. they do a lot of airbrushing and they take a zillion pictures, and then you sit down and pick the ones you want to keep. i have a whole album of pics of me.

I think they try to make sure the before and afters show as much difference as possible. It's a pretty competitive business with a lot of shops in operation. The sample albums are outside the storefront on the sidewalk with the 'before' picture tucked in the front. I've often wondered we ended up in some of their advertising. The place we chose used a lot of mixed girl (Taiwanese, I assume) + Taiwanese guy couples in their samples.

it wasn't my idea. it was my aunt's and she dragged all my cousins, my uncles, etc. there's this huuuuge photo of all of us. the idea was to photograph all my aunts and uncles with my grand parents, but do it professionally, and we ended up at glamourshots with rabies.

i'll admit it was fun tho.

Sheeeit...even I wanna get one done and I'm not an Asian bride!

Do you really have to go to Taiwan to get it done, though? No satellite franchises stateside?

hahaha, no offense but i think they might be a lil baffled if a black guy walks in the door asking for beauty pics

"umm would you like 'bashful beauty' or 'temptress'?"
