Blame it on OHtotoro...but I've been dabbling a bit more with PS2 games lately. A brief review on some of the new ones:
Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer: once you can surf the locked beaches, it's not too bad...but not something I would buy. OHtotoro liked it a lot though, but you just can't do any wacky, crazy-ass tricks like in Tricky.
Robotech -- Battlecry: the fact that it's Robotech alone makes it a fav. of mine, but throw in all the other good shit...woo hoo!
Street Hoops: that shit cracked me up. Good game play for those into basketball games.
GTA 3: I've logged enough hours into this thing to be able to say it rocks.
Soccer Slam: so-so. Havent' really gotten into it too much yet. It's 3 on 3 soccer and the characters/personalities they've created are pretty funny...not sure if the game has a lotta depth though.
Tricky: the best snowboarding game (if not the only one) out there, bar none. I haven't even played any others, but I know Tricky's da best.

Oh, forgot to add:
Onimusha2: incredible fucking graphics
Timesplitter2: a first-person shooter game. I'm sure you Counterstrike freaks will be at least moderately satisfied...
Gungrave: you're basically Antonio Banderas from Desparado (the main character ducks, moves, jives and shoots just like him; instead of a guitar case, he carries a coffin). Other than the great style of it, it gets boring after a while.
While we're on the subject of kick ass games, my friend told me about this deal at Amazon.com:
Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/468642/102-8854458-7362528) - Buy 2 Games, Get 1 Free! You can choose three new releases that are not on sale anywhere. The typical price is $49.99 for newly released games. If you get three of them and apply coupon code: 906642, you pretty much get them for $33.33 each. This is nice deal since you don't pay for sales tax.
EDIT: For some reason the promotional offer doesn't work consistently. I'm not sure what exactly you have to order to qualify for the promotion. So far I've gotten it to work with Kingdom Hearts (in stock), Tony Hawk 4 (pre-order), and GTA: Vice City (pre-order). I don't know whether it works with non-PS2 games. If someone figures out the actual requirements, please let me know...

Oh yeah, I almost forgot:
Ace Combat 04: I'm a sucker for military aviation
Armored Core 3: it has its "piss-you-off" moments, but when your ego kicks in and you have to show the Computer who's boss, you're not gonna put down the controller for a while :D

I never got into any of the Tony Hawk games. Maybe it's 'cause I never really skated but it always seemed kinda pointless chillin' in the same arena doing trick after trick after trick after trick after trick.
