no, but if you're expecting much from an air intake, you'll be disappointed.

FMIS!!!!!!!! on a civic SI will net you 1000 hp!

Well, to answer the real question, air intakes provide a very miniscule improvement over stock airboxes (sometimes it's detrimental) in providing extra horesepower to the motor. The general idea is that the more air you can get into your motor, the more fuel will be injected into the intake cylinder and thus create more horsepower. The stock ECU (electronic control unit - basically your car's computer that runs the engine) is not really equipped to handle much more than slight improvement, not to mention the motor.

BTW, the knock on air intakes is that although you do get better air flow, that just means that more crap in the air is getting sucked into your motor like sand/dirt, which is definitely not a good thing.

My suggestion: Save your money for gas.

It sounds cooler and it does feel a bit peppier. Oh and it's fun to work on the car for an afternoon. It's no big deal to install the intake... at least it wasn't on my car. Just don't get AEM- they have big quality control issues. I've gone through two and both had defects. After doing a bit of modyfing, if it isn't JDM or TUV certified then I don't buy it.

but it says for manual transmission..will it fit in an automatic one?

Perhaps..

Look around the net and see if any shops list the same part number for both the manual and auto tranny. If other manufacturers use only 1 setup for both manual/auto, then that one should fit.
