New avatars all around

What's with all the new avatars? I've noticed a trend away from real life pics and the increase in the blown-up smileys or anime icons.
Is it like getting a new hairstyle?
Anyone getting stalked because of their beautiful faces posted on each post?
Anyone use another person's face and pretend like it's them?

I think Ayers [avatar] is that Korean bunny. The only reason I know this is because I posted an article in the anime forum about animation around Asia, not just Japan.

I changed mine because 1) I look like Mononoke Hime 2) I'm feeling more barbaric after my "Hi, I'm a gun nut. No! Don't run! Really, I'm sane" posts to the women in war topic.

edit: I don't think I can hide when I have a few pics in the gallery. though my banquet picture is gone. now that I think about it, I do have this one wedding picture where I look like the girl that comes with the frame.
