The wait has been long but it was worth it.
I played it last night till i nodded off at the PC.

Is that all we get???? How about a little more? Heard it's a crossover strategy + rpg... how close does it come?

Well.
It is a lot like a combo of all the blizard games
(Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft)

There are definatly RPG elements like an inventory screen where hero characters can carry magical objects, scrolls & items of power.
The Hero characters not have Stats like in diablo that can increse through experience and heropoints.

I am not very far into the game so i havent encountered much fighting yet.
but the troop controlls seem a lot better than in other Warcraft and Starcraft games.

The look of the world is really astounding but i suggest anyone who is thinking about this game have a good 3d graphics card.

wcIII got really good reviews. i really wanna get out and buy it. and yeah the graphics are definitely amazing. i was peering over my friends shoulder watching while at his house.

what about the collector's edition w/the DVD? I have the old Diablo II DVD from the boxed set. A bit pricey for just the DVD though. The rest of the stuff I don't care about.

I had already downloaded all the trailers from the Blizard site.
Was that all that was on the dvd?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. Have you seen the Diablo II DVD? That was pretty awesome computer animation at the time. It was all keyframe - not motion capture.

I have a bootleg copy of warcraft III...only I think it's already screwed with my registry, since it won't work now. Encryption/security for games is so damn anal!

I havent seen any new diablo stuff except for the preview that came with warcraft III.
The animation that blizzard has turned out since diablo 1 & starcraft has been awesome.
(it was done in 3ds max :) )

I have been having problems playing the night elfe campagins.
For some reason i cant see the special effects like the the glow from the undead beildings being built and magical bolts.
So it makes it hard when i cant see the Wisps.

anyne have this problem?

maybe its your videocard or video drivers?
Did you upgrade to version 1.02a?

I'm on almost every night during the week from 7-10 pm pacific time in channel uks - if I'm not there then there's usually people there to play with (SN: 330i made a new random user account - I want the dragon logo!)

I checked there support page and my graphics gard was one that was not supported.
(I have a diamond stealth)

I was going to do the upgrade but it was only a battlenet fix so i didnt bother.

I am going to have to transfer it to my other PC and see what happens.

Even though your card isn't officially supported, it helps to make sure that all the other things are kosher.

Check OS updates / service packs
Check video drivers (nvidia detonator?)
DirectX updates
Patches for the game (some technical fixes might be left out of the detail

At that point most tech supports will tell you to uninstall, defrag, and reinstall the game.

War3 is the SHIT I am decent I play NEs. And no I don't mass huntress. The game is hard it is better to train against people before playing the computer. The computer is super tough. Which can be discouraging.

Oh man I feel like such a geek after reading this thread...

Some of you guys are having trouble against the comp...meanwhile I'm level 18 solo and ranked in the 300s lol...guess I play TOO much.

Actually if you can beat the computer on normal mode, you can probably get to level 8 easy on solo ladder. "Real players" don't even come until level 10. Basically everyone from 12 down though is considered a newbie heh.

the game is fun, but after playing it for a bit I gotta say that the hero aspect makes it somewhat unbalanced. for one, in any fight when the hero falls that usually signals that one side has lost the battle and should just run since the heros are so powerful. well this results in the early winner getting their heroes leveled up really high and so its that much harder for a player to make a comeback

Anyone playing Age of Mythology? actually it depends. Like the NE and Hummies, are hardcore hero dependent. While, Orcs and Undead can do some damage without them. I am just level 8 Random teams. So yeah. My arranged partner is on punishment -_-.

Everything they put out is absolute quality.

and only winning 7
I give up and say warcraft 3 is gay.
I am now gonna stick to user-setting maps like tower defense.

i play AoM.. but again, pirated, so i can't play online. haven't really tried the single player game, me and my roommate play lan against computers. we suck ass. we can't even take two moderates.

Warcraft III is tight :) But I like playing the defense and rpg/scenario maps mostly.....after playing a few of them I got addicted :P

yo sid, read this whole thread... :P and you'l pretty much find out the concept in a nutshell

RTS with heros units - buffed out units that have abilities that can literally change the tide of a battle (but cost uber, so having more than 2 is pretyy hard up, max 3 heros anyways)

Depending on the hero, ya get different benefits from the paladin's holy light ability to the dread lord's vampirirc aura (gain hp as melee attackers slash away) to the demon hunter's metamorphasis into a demon....it's pretty fun game

The racial mix makes for pretty interesting game play too (4 races, all which rock in their own ways of course)

Hell, I prolly shouldn't even be the one talking here .........Talk to like Uncle Tat or someone more experienced than this poor lvl 12 sucker.... :lol:



And if anything, this totally changed my starcraft/other rts play strats.....hahaha
