Well, from what little I read, I can only guess what people's mix are. So, why not just introduce ourselves? As always, I end up starting off. :)

I'm Kalani, born & raised in Hawai'i, and like many Hawaiians my ancestors and myself are "hapa" and have been for generations.

I tend not to explain what I am anymore but give people my genealogy in short. My 2nd great-grandpa from China went to Hawai'i, married a Hawaiian woman, had my great-grandma who had my grandmother with a Portuguese man, who in turn had my mom from a Filipino man and had me from a Filipino man. :)

Also, I noticed someone posting about their family being all "hapas". Well, my dad's Filipino side, there are only 12 pure Filipinos in our family (counting from my paternal grandparents' descendants only) while all the other ninety something relatives are mixed. I'd also say about 95% of my Hawaiian branch are hapas too. My Portuguese side I don't know but I have to assume being in Hawai'i, they too are mixed.

What's up maldito. I'm full blooded Chinese. 1/2 Shanghainese, 1/2 half some sort of Cantonese...I think. That's quite the distinguished looking cat you've got there.

Alex

P.S. - AB, where was this post originally?? Hapa forum, I'm guessing?

First of all, "Kitty!" I love you kitty...

Second, Hello maldito...

edit: sorry I was sidetracked by the kitty and moments of silence. I am the Wondrous Token Forum Honky of Irish, Japanese and Cherokee ancestry. I keep up fairly good contact with my family in Japan but you'll see me poke my nose into a good deal of Chinese things or outright ask for explanations/help because my married family is Taiwanese.

So, I guess that adds up to me having mixed children myself when that day comes. Technically, I'm just Eurasian or AmerAsian but the West Coasters and Hawaiians I've known have converted my language and identifier to hapa.

Sup maldito.

I'm 28 year old Chinaman, half cantonese and half fukinese (why is everyone breaking it down like this, btw?) from New York City.

I am YW's resident panda fluffer during the day and the infamous reincarnation of the helicopter man at night.

*L* yeah, I dunno....but I see it as just being specific, which is cool. As far as I know, my chinese origin comes from Canton...don't think he was from H.K.

yes, that's what I tell him when the cartoon came on. I dunno why I came up w/ that name. There's also Nicodemus mentioned in the bible and I knew of that too as well as the giant rat nicodemus. :-)
