here sumthing interesting i stubled across on speed options

in theory CAI are supposed to provied mr power than short ram intakes. this is because they are drawing cool air from under your car as opposed to warm air from inside your engine bay. AznAccord2000 said something that made me stop and think. he said that he had better performance with the short ram intake. this can only be true on drag racing and other short bursts of speed. at a drag strip your car is not running for a long time before you actually head down the 1320. if your car has not been on for a while the the engine bay has not had time to develpo heat, therefore a CAI will not be needed. in long road trips or in hot weather a cai will always be better. this is because on long trips the engine bay will have time to heat up. when the bay is hot that SRI can actually hinder an engine's performance. the colder the air the better.

good tid bit read rest of the post at http://www.speedoptions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=733

True, but if you're running at, say, LACR, it's hot as hell on the track and the heat rises from the tarmac straight into your engine bay when you pull up to the line. It's hot waiting in line.

anyhow. one of the things that you create when using a CAI is that you extend the air intake line, which means, the length of the added pipe adds to the lag time from the instant the throttle body opens upon acceleration.

for all you civic guys... just get an FMIS FRONT MOUNT INTAKE SYSTEM! DUMA!!! HAHAHAHAAA wannabe fakes ass FMIC.

Trust what you see on a 3rd party dyno. It should be at least three runs under the same conditions and the average should be taken.
