And I have been forever, it seems. Here's a recent article to get this forum rolling:

[b:cf1dfc1c12]Jobless Rate Hits Its Highest Level Since '94[/b:cf1dfc1c12]
The Street.com (http://yellowworld.org/morenews/viewnews.php?channel=Business%3A+general&category=Job+markets+news&url=http://c.moreover.com/click/here.pl?x38006408&)

The unemployment rate in April reached its highest level in almost eight years, and fewer workers were added to nonfarm payrolls than economists were expecting, according to data from the Labor Department.

The monthly jobs report showed that the unemployment rate rose to 6% in April, while 43,000 workers joined payrolls. The jobless rate reached the highest level since August 1994.

On average, economists were expecting the April jobs report to show that the unemployment rate climbed to 5.8% from 5.7% in March. Consensus estimates put the increase in payrolls for April at 60,000.

Average hourly earnings rose 0.1% in April to $14.69 from $14.67 the previous month. The average length of the workweek slipped to 34.1 hours last month from 34.2 hours in March.

Data from March originally showed that payrolls increased by 58,000 that month, but the number has now been revised to a loss of 21,000.

Yeah, He is. He's actually 57. That's not a picture of him. That's actually a picture of his roommate. His roommates a little asian guy and he's a big 57 year old white dood.

I'm nearly jobless. I only work on the weekends. And sometimes not even that. I work in an electronic sweat shop. though, since I only work there on the weekends, I shouldn't complain.

hmmm.... maybe i should find a new job.

In this current market, jobs are hard to come by and easy to lose if you have one. On the positive side, the job market is supposed to be turning up this year so those of you who are unemployed and disheartened, fear not. A job is likely around the corner. However, I've found that no matter what, it really is who you know that makes the difference. Try to schmooze with some HR people so you can get your life on a piece of paper considered by the higher ups.

Yep...I remember being so optimistic in December when I heard reports that the recovery would really begin in late January of '02, the latest. Now, in order to avoid absolute and utter discouragement, I've resigned myself to the fact that the economy is [i:40ca0bf308]never[/i:40ca0bf308] going to improve and that we're all doomed...unless the Lakers beat the Kings, of course.

This is sad, I applied for 9 jobs and still no luck.

One bad experience was when my martial arts class was handing out flyers at the mall, the instructor's nephew and me went to wolf camera to get a job there. I was dressed in khaki pants, dragon silk shirt and orange tipped dyed hair. I got an application from them and returned it in 20 minutes later. I worked for my parents , so thats the other job i had before, so anyway, i returned, the manager looked at it and said i needed more info about my previous job in the employment history section. While i was filling it out, the employer and the employee were having some few words, but i think either they said i wasn't cut or it, my hair was tight or hes not our type. ....yet my white buddy got the job....

Another time was when i had another buddy at my hapkido studio working at petsmart...he told me they needed stockers and i would get hired...yet, i had to get the application from somewhere else since they ran out, i returned it and no word. .....i went back to ask them and another employer asked me for my name and number and said he would get back if there was work available...nothing heard from again...now, this would make my 9th job attempt...

Don't worry all my older co-workers who have been around the block say this happens every ten years. We are all just too young to have experienced something like this before. Job market will come back someday.

Meanwhile I am unemployed. I send out shotgun method. Every month I send about 40-50 resumes out with a return rate of 1 or 2 emails or calls. Just gotta keep trying and not get into a rut or self-pity and laziness. This is my 4th month of unemployment but 2nd month of trying.. I mean REALLY trying.

Hopefully the job market will recover by the time I grad. University so I don't have to work at McDonald's to earn money.. :P

A+ is bullshit, it only gets you a job at compusa. you're better off reading books and experimenting on your own, and then putting down those pet projects on your resume.

I heard A+ is simple. What i really meant was MCSE degree..

A+ i also heard will get you into many jobs. For example, working for microsoft as a hardware tech.

how one unemployed man makes his money:

IN THE EARLY HOURS, six days out of seven since 1968, Cercelletta has plunged into the water at Neptune’s feet and used a small rake to pull in fistfuls of small change — first lire, now cents, as well as foreign coppers and nickels.
Rome’s city authorities estimate the charities that are supposed to get the money are losing out on as much as 12,000 euros a month, although Cercelletta says he is charitable too.
“I sweep up only about 200-300 euros a day, not what they claim,” Cercelletta told Corriere Della Sera newspaper on Sunday.
Update: Trevi Fountain coin-fishing banned
“I share what I make with two other unemployed people.”
Still, even at 100 euros a day, Cercelletta’s 15 minutes work each morning nets him a tidy income.
Since a 1994 high court decision ruled that taking coins out of the fountain was no more illegal than throwing them in, the only thing Cercelletta really does wrong is jump in the water.
