ASK HER! (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/programmes/this_world/one_day_of_war/html/13.stm)

AND HER.... (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/programmes/this_world/one_day_of_war/html/5.stm)

OR HIM (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/programmes/this_world/one_day_of_war/html/16.stm)

AND HIM (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/programmes/this_world/one_day_of_war/html/9.stm)

Imagine if you had to take up arms and fight for your land, or your freedom, or for your family. I mean, really imagine. Being oppressed and taking up arms, ready to die for what you believe in. Or worse yet, knowing if you get caught, your either raped or beaten and tourtured. Me being all nice and cozy in america, I realized how spoiled I am, totally oblivious to people fighting all over the world!

So my questions is this....

1)Do americans care what's going on all over the world, or just places of interest.

2)Does the media refuse to report specific stories?

3)Do you think the average american cares about the rest of the world?

4)Is the U.N. doing a good job?

I'll tell you one thing: I care about apostrophes and their proper employment.

1. Some do, some don't, you can't generalise for all Americans.
2. The media cannot cover all stories, without running to several volumes a day. But corners of the media can be relied on to look at subjects of interest to you. The onus is on you to find the real news, which is maybe a bit odd ...
3. America is big and varied. There is no average American.
4. Yes. It's only hindrance is the executive powers of the Security Council, which is open to too much (American, Russian, French, British) abuse. But it suceeded where the League of Nations failed, in many respects. It has had its failures, it has had its successes. America dismissed it, and regreted it. It'll do until something better comes along.

1. Not really, only places they care about is what is hyped up.

2. Yes - Draft bill anyone?

3. No, average American doesn't even know what the fuck is going on.

4. Debatable, UN is only as strong as the nations that support its policies, but there's a place in the world for it.
