Some alley cats are shitting in my flower beds. It's starting to get to be a problem. How do I keep them out? Suggestions?

TIA!!

This is mostly a problem in newly-dug beds, I've found. A temporary solution is to put chicken wire down. They don't like to walk on it.

I used to also buy a dog and cat repellent at K-Mart that came in a pellet form. It worked pretty good but I haven't been able to find it lately. One of my neighbors used to let his dogs poop on the same portion of my lawn every day.

Maybe predator urine? I think you can find fox urine at hunting goods stores.

i read about the predator scent approach, and the unpleasant smell approach, and the motion-sensor-activated water hoser.

my question is whether or not these chemicals affect the growth of the plants.
