What's Your Guy Thang? [Archive]

Some guys know how to fix cars (you can find any of them in the Auto Tech forum!), some guys know how to build stuff or break stuff, some are jocks...and then the rest of us are are in the Geek/Gaming category.

So what's your guy "thang" (if they really are "guy" thangs at all)?

I definitely don't know cars anymore (I took auto in high school but then forgot it all somehow during my crazy-party phase the past few years; then again I think I forgot most of everything from that, too). I'm crappy at building stuff unless it's from IKEA (and even then...Christ! You need some serious muscle to get those screws in!).

Probably the last bastions of my manhood lie in trying to learn new web development stuff and sports. If I could tinker with web stuff all day while having football broadcast into my room, 365 days a year, I'd be very content.

I will work on cars if I have to, though I hate it. I had to replace the water pump in my 4-Runner the other week. It sucked and wasn't my idea of fun.

My guy thing is pretty much anything death-defying.

Why not just take it to the mechanic...?

I haven't done anything death-defying for God knows how long. The most daring I've gotten lately was probably yesterday, when I went swiming with kasia in her apartment's 6 foot deep pool.

Raunchy jokes? Dear god, I can't go by an hour without cracking one. Once, my friend punched me for every dirty thought I had. Wrestling's fun. Some guy and I wrestle all the time, and it's so freaking funny. My friend came back into her room and her bed was on the other side and the sheets were flung somewhere while he held me upside down in a headlock.

my guy thing is i like to drive, race, do watever makes me go fast i have gone fast and driven/piloted boats and cars, next up planes and helicopters.

my other guy thing is im good at/ know alot about most guy things electronics, computers, guns, etc.

i always say men can bond 3 ways talking about 1. girls, 2. sports, 3. cars. =P

im not bisexual or a lesbian either, but when my guy friends and i all go out to kick it together while they check out girls i throw in comments on whether or not i think shes pretty. im comfortable with it and they think its cool that a girl can join in with the rest of em like that.

haha yeah i wrestle too. i lose most of the time tho :lol:

It would have been close to $400, and I'm just estimating because that's a bit more than what I paid to get the timing belt fixed a few months ago. Replacing the water pump takes probably just as much work as the timing belt on this vehicle -- ya pretty much have remove the whole front part of the engine.

And I did it myself because paying out $400 meant I would have had to scuttle my trip to San Francisco -- and I [i:aabe2a7910]really[/i:aabe2a7910] needed to get out of town.

My next death-defying trip will be in September, but I constantly look for other ways.

I guess I'm not a man. :cry: I sorta game (but not the popular stuff like b.net stuff or cs or whatever), i sorta watch cartoons/anime, and i jerk off. Oh, and I bs, a lot. :) I dun think I'm competent to do real man stuff. I can't even drive (and the "I live in the city" excuse is starting to wear thin when almost all my friends have permits or licenses and i have a DMV Non-Driver's ID) :(

Everything. I like powerful machines (mmm cars), I wrestle with my friends, I blow things up and set things on fire (that pyromania kicks in often), I absolutely adore action movies, I like electronics, I like weapons (but I wouldn't do anything stupid, I'd just love to have the money to collect blades; no guns for me), I check out girls but I'm straight, I'm very strong but I look feminine, I make a lot of raunchy jokes, et cetera, and this is a very long sentence.
All that and more, but I still manage to not be called a tomboy. Of course, I have a lot of girl in me too. I'm just not the stereotyped flowery teenybopper that watches sappy movies. And I'd kill myself if I were.

yeah, those IKEA screws can be a pain. I'm good at fixing objects though and I've built wooden chairs, tables and stools before during my whole high school career so I'm pretty handy with those things.

I work out at the gym 3 to 4 days a week.

Ive been into computers and gaming since i was 3.

I read alot and stuff.

love partying/clubbing etc

yeah.. a lil bit of everything except sports... don't really do sports.

I'm a martial arts nut, who likes competition fighting and I have muscles. I say that's some Guy Thangs.

I can't stop flirting with women, anywhere I go. It's terrible and it gets me into a lot of trouble.

Those are probably the only Guy Thangs that I have.
