I was at the grocery store the other day when a couple tried to use a $20 bill that the cashier refused. When she wouldn't take it, the couple insisted on having it back and left the store.

I asked the cashier how she knew it was counterfeit, and she said, "It looked like it had been colored with crayons!"

Sometimes I get game tokens in my change, which is annoying. They are the same size as quarters. But today I got a counterfeit penny. It is the right color and shape and looks just like a penny, except it's made out of plastic and has the words "media money" on it in very tiny letters.

I also got a forged note in England. I think they knew I was a tourist.

Ever get any counterfeit money?

I got a bunch of canadian coins sometimes in my change in place of U.S. currency. Does that count?

A few months ago I read an article in Rolling Stone about a high school counterfeiting ring in the suburbs of Northern VA. With the advent of high quality inkjet printers, it was fairly easy to make counterfeit bills now. High school kids would make a few and sell them to other kids. Spending the bills would be easy in certain places like restaurants where you leave money on the table and leave.

Here's a link to a brief article (http://www.dailyfreepress.com/news/2003/10/01/News/Terrier.Recruit.Suspected.In.Counterfeiting.Ring-509189.shtml).

Is it true that all u.s dollars are the same size? So theoretically you could bleach clean dollar notes and with a decent quality printer print $100 instead?

By the way this is not something I would consider nor condone if the feds are reading this!

I thought I was the only one! When i'm feeling cheap I pay with canadian quarters instead of american quarters when needed, to save my... ah, 6 cents?
