Any good ideas for cuts/styles for straight hair? I want something kind of sassy. Pictures much appreciated.

oh god, I love faye's legs. they're murderous! She's 5'11 but like 3.5 feet of legs. And yeah the hairstyle is nice too.

h.h., if you have a japantown or little tokyo near you, you may want to check out their bookstores for hair magazines. those have the newest styles, i think. i'll try to find a link for you also.

btw, i want to straighten my hair w/the magic perm--where they put chemicals in your hair or something--but the cheapest so far is $280 asian places and $500 american salons. :( they last six mos.

I got it done for $120. It's not as worth it as it seems. It only stays for like, 3 months. But it's by far the best straight perm I've ever had. For about 2 months it looks like you've always got freshly straight ironed hair. Then for the next few months, it just gets looser and looser. *Shrug*

^-- Don't get me wrong, it was totally awesome. Just didn't last as long as advertised. =x But it's okay, its not like I actually expected it to. My hair is really hard to keep straight. I want to go back and get another one in a few months. I absolutely fucking loved it for the first month.

There's a Japanese straightening thing that's supposed to keep your hair really really straight, but it costs something upwards of $300 for short, to $500 for long hair.

Is it really worth your money? Think about it. Your hair grows an average of an inch per month. When it grows out, it's not gonna be as straight as the straightening perm makes your hair, so unless you keep getting it done every 2-3 months, you're gonna have a big gap of hair that's unkept. If you get a professional flat iron, one with a ceramic plate rather than a metal one, it'd be more worthwhile. You can adjust how hot you want the plate to get from 70 deg. to 200 degrees. It makes your hair shinier. They're only a fraction of the cost of a straightening perm at about $85, I think. Heh. Where do I get this stuff from? ;p my mother.

Actually we had a discussion of straight hair in the other forums. It seems a lot girls have done it and they totally love it. :) I can point out the link if you want to read it.

Just do what I do: grab it by the fistful and whatever sticks out, chop it off.

Yeah, thanks Monkey. That haircut should make me look just like her. ::eyeroll::

everyone else> I do buy the occasional Japanese mags for reading practice and hair inspiration. I've been putting some thought into a straight perm. Salons are a lot cheaper in Taiwan and I might be going around Jan or Feb. One of my girlfriends might be there at the same time too. If so, she can translate for me and I can get it done. Hopefully for a lot cheaper.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'll look good in it.
