When you're out and an unappealing guy is staring at you, not making any catcalls or flirting, but doing the "you’re just a piece of meat stare," how do you normally react?

Does your reaction differ greatly depending on setting or do you usually respond one way?

Do you have the same reaction as you do to whistles, car honking, and the like?

Do you get uncomfortable by "the stare"?

i normally do. i grow worried, awkward and try very hard not to make eye-contact, usually hiding or covering my face if the uneasy feeling grows. i know i don't have enough courage to tell the person to stop, so i try not to look at them/go the other way. men staring is a lot more uncomfortable than having people honk or whistle, although smiling and talking is a different story. the latter also makes me very uncomfortable, cautious and scared, so i try to avoid such situations.

I ignore them. Or if they're like, right there next to me I give them "the look" that tells them that there is just no way in hell.

My response many times is a "What are you looking at" snarl, but ignore is also common.

It's common for the guys I've encountered to respond to the snarl by introducing themselves or with some compliment and then stop the stare, but once a guy went cuckoo. Another time, I'm not sure if the guy was sane in the first place.

I can't remember the ignore generating too bad of a response other than that the stare continues.

When I said unappealing, I meant someone the person stared at isn't interested in, not necessarily someone not physically attractive.

Some of those who stare are cute. I don't like the you're just a piece of meat look from them, either.

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I were walking along downtown near the Union Station, and this guy who happens to be African American stared at me and licked his tongue but I didn't notice because my boyfriend is the one to point it out. Usually, I walk obliviously from point A to point B or preoccupied with being cold and wanting to go in the car..... Anyway, I thought it was disrespectful and it gives me the chills but I move on.

it was my friend's twelveth birthday, so we went to the shopping mall to buy some ice-cream (because the nearest ice-cream parlor was very far away), i ordered for the four of the us and we sat on a bench (to finish them) and then check which movies were on in the cinema. i finished first and thought it would be a good idea to buy a cd, so we all got up and start making our way towards the dvd/music store (which was at the other end) infront of us was a huge 'herd' of boys, possibly of an indian background? nevertheless, you could tell they thought a bit too much of themselves because of the way they were dressed. i was with another friend at the back, talking about school and two of my other friends were in the front. suddenly, after a few steps, they turned back and motioned us to "run" the other way. the friend i was walking with, ran and hid in a store because we were scared... we didn't know what happened. the man working in the store was surprised and asked what we were doing in there, already very suspicious of our worried expressions and behaviour. we told him of what [we thought had] happened, and he told us to go the other way because the boys had already passed. to be on the safe side, we then later on hid in a coffee shop but we didn't order anything. we just waited and waited until we thought the coast was clear. i then banged my fist and said "this is silly! we might as well go" which gave us some motivation. we didn't look for our other friends though, and ran down the escalator to wait for them. they came after a few minutes, and one of them was crying. she said while they were walking, one of the boys came towards her, said hello, then put his arms around her shoulder and kissed her. "it's funny we didn't notice that." i thought. they then chased them around the whole mall until both of them hid in the bathroom. we were already a bit...O_O....shaken up after that story... and didn't feel very comfortable about going out, even if we were going together.

If I'm in a room and a guy stares at a woman whose breasts are larger than mine, I do probaly get just a little envious and the first thing I will do is analyze her, pick her apart piece by piece and see what she has over me. If it's a cute guy, then sometimes I'm flattered and will strike up a conversation provided that he's not doing the "I dream of killing you stare."

i wouldn't call it craving attention, but i'm usually flattered, as i said earlier. it's kind of a compliment that you made someone notice you.

it's annoying if he's like drooling on your left shoe or trying to grope your boob or something. or when some people stare at me not with the 'you're cute' look but the 'OH MY GOD! YOU HAVE HUGE TITTIES FOR AN ASIAN GIRL, YOU GROTESQUE FREAK OF NATURE' look.

My back doesn't hurt so much that I'd go that far. I don't know anyone stupid enough to get a reduction unless they overdid their breast enhancement like Pamela Anderson and Anna Nicole Smith. They had to reduce theirs after their breasts exploded.

there's such a thing as natural too-large boobies. my boobs sometimes give me back problems and i've toyed with the idea. my friend had a reduction because she had terrible back problems. it's not stupid to want smaller boobs -- sometimes they look weird when they are too big, and it's definitely harder for me to shop for clothes, having a small frame and big breasts. t-shirts tend to hang funny.

Honest opinion: it depends on who is doing the staring.

If it's a cute guy, then sometimes I'm flattered and will strike up a conversation provided that he's not doing the "I dream of killing you stare."

If it's a not-so-cute guy, I usually just ignore it.

If I'm in a room and a guy stares at a woman whose breasts are larger than mine, I do probaly get just a little envious and the first thing I will do is analyze her, pick her apart piece by piece and see what she has over me. All women do it. I just don't see the point of lying about it. If she's like some big fat girl with a bloated butt and Barney-size waist, then obviously he has no taste and I would be glad that he isn't staring at me. Gross.
