GREEK LAW NUMBER 3037, enacted at the end of July, explicitly forbids electronic games with ‘electronic mechanisms and software’ from public and private places, and people have already been fined tens of thousands of dollars for playing or owning games.
The law applies equally to visitors from abroad: “If you know these things are banned, you should not bring them in,” said a commercial attaché at the Greek Embassy in London, who declined to give her name.
Internet cafes will be allowed to continue to operate, providing no games-playing takes place. If a customer is found to be running any sort of game, including online chess, the café owner will be fined and the place closed.

No. That's not true. If you get a chance, grab your encyclopedia and look up daily life under "Greece." It'll say something like-- they like to dance, engage in conversation at cafes, and relax. (I read it a while back. I don't totally remember, but that was the gyst of it, I thinks.)
If they're all geeks, doesn't that mean there are a lotta potentially good bfs there? LOL. Weren't you the one who started that post? :P

Ohhhh. Pwahaha. Sorry. =X I should've taken the clue earlier. Afterall, you did quote the bubblegum quote.
The petty laws help keep the respective places clean/maintained. No gum on the sidewalk, streets.., under the counter at McDonald's, etc. You're not forced to listen to someone chomp away wrecklessly while on the train/subway.
Oinggg. And, no Game Boy in Greece? Maybe it's a direct attack against Nintendo-- the Japanese-- and well, since most GBs are now made in China, China. That Greek terrorist group must've taken over. ;x
(jk. okay, that was lame. sorry.)

actually i think the chewing gum law had to do with an accident at a train station involving chewing gum. not 100% sure though. would have to look it up.

Oh my goodness. Hahaha. Stuff like that gets pretty frikken annoying though, so I can imagine it happening.
Personally, I don't think this law goes far enough. Even though the law specifically outlaws private use of such games, there's no way to enforce it behind closed doors. As such, a much more effective solution to the problem is the mandatory removal of the thumbs of every resident and visitor to Greece.=/

Even if you didn't have thumbs, you could still play video games and such. My cousin plays with his index and middle fingers, LOL. If you amputated their hands, they could still play with their toes, so you'd have to amputate their hands and feet. Do you think you'd be able to play with your elbows?
