Robotech®: BattleCry™ is a mission driven, third person action game that takes the classic mecha-filled mayhem of the animated television series and translates it into an exciting real-time 3D game. In this high-octane arcade shooter, players take the role of an intrepid fighter pilot, who must put his skills to the test in a desperate struggle to aid the Robotech Defense Force (RDF) in safeguarding the planet Earth against the evil alien forces of the Zentraedi™ armada. Players control the Veritech™ fighter, a unique mecha capable of ground-based fighting in robot form, or quickly transformable into a fast attack fighter for aerial dog fighting.
Features Fast-paced action that pits the player against groups of enemies simultaneously.
Introduces transformable vehicles that can change from a ground based, 40-foot tall humanoid robot into a high-flying jet fighter craft.
40+ expansive missions with a variety of primary objectives, as well as secondary objectives that are not required to complete the game but add additional game time and re-playability.
Three transformation modes that offer different movement options, special abilities and weapons.
A variety of environments including rolling hills, an urban setting, the sky and outer space.
A death match mode where players can battle each other.
I'm frothing at the mouth for this. OHTotoro played this at the comic book convention in SD and said it was the real deal.

I've got the entire collection of the US DVD's but not the remastered version of Macross. It's weird seeing other people that liked this series way back in the day.
I believe they are taking pre-orders for this game and it will arrive on the 20th or something like that. www.robotech.com would probably have that news.

the real set was only availible mail order from animeigo for a small period last year the sets number in excess of 5000 boxes and have sold out almost completely. they are being reissued in lots of 3 disks http://www.animeigo.com/products/macross.t
Animeigo version is restored footage and looks alot cleaner and is japanese w/ english subtitles only. yep 250$ +10 shipping thing was expensive. compared to the robotech version the macross set is much nicer and better mastered and the footage see for urself.

If I haven't said it already (and I have), get this game! It rocks. The controls are a little hard to get used to at first, but then, what did you expect, since you're controlling this plane that can do barrel rolls, spin, and then change into a robot.

*Does the game have music from the series? Squad commands?
I'd say one of the games strong points is its faithfulness to the original cartoon series, definitely with the soundtrack. They dug up many of the voices from the series for the game, and I believe all the major players are here.

Sorry for the late reply...
...it was for the PS2...
The missions are difficult, but not headache inducing...(it's pretty easy to get the hang of!) ;)
Yeah, it's not too difficult to pick up. I played it a little bit ago at AB's place and nearly kicked OHTotoro's and AB's butt my first time playing...

I'm thinking about it. There's a special edition at the PX. Game plus T shirt, art book, and dog tags as I recall. $79.99 or so.

Lordy lord... I love Macross. Watched it for the first time this last summer...
Will one day own this game. and then own the game, if you know what I mean. It looks pretty damn impressive.
My question: Is switching between modes smooth? I'd hate it if it took like 5 seconds for my VF to change from jet to guardian. Oh well.

Just starting playing Battlecry, it's not bad. I'm trying to get used to the controls... it's kinda weird.
GTA. OH YEA! Katana's, 80s music, and all in Vice City. Damn that game is fun.

I got mine.... love robotech...
I have all the books too...
Its cool to find out what happened after the anime.
the last book filled in some plotholes from way back in the beginning of the series but i can't help but feel the "End of Evangelion" frustration at it.
because it is that kind of book.
and we all know how fucked up the evangelion movies were.

I just started playing this game. It rocks! The controls are a little tought to get used to, but once you do, it's hot.
I'm stuck at the point where I'm supposed to pick up all the food containers in Guardian mode and bring them back to the camp. Then go back out and rescue the pilot. I get to him, but can't pick him up and he keeps getting killed. I'm getting frustrated. Last night my tv almost ended up with a foot sized hole in the screen.

As you're first flyin in and see the pilot on the ground, land close to him and then kill the battle pods first, then pick him up.
heh:)

Ahhh! *smacks forehead* kill the pods first. I've been swooping in and trying to figure out why I can't pick him up. Then he dies and I have to do the entire mission over. Thanks man!
