We have the technology to make small robots such as the sony aibo and sony and honda humaniod robots walk and feel, jump and get up, kick and be slave door men. (ironically from japan)

who else thinks we should have gianted armored ground crushing mechs like gundam and macross lineages. Armed to the teeth w/ the latest weapons for ground crushing city combat. =X

ok im bored.

Mrazntre!?

Mechs would definitely be cool. But why not just start off on a smaller scale? I think it's time for Bandai and Sony or Honda to partner up and make a cool mini gundam.

my thought exactly sumthing along the line of anime Gasaraki and its 5-6 meter tall electric powered battle suits/ power armor armed w/ 30mm cannon and TOW missiles just like real life minus the fact that mechs get slaughtered at that size vs. tanks.

dude we need some of these Steel battalion 2080 giant robots and 270mm cannons. Stuff like this should be used to storm iraq! and step on saddam

watch this video for the steel battalion game and u'll understand

If you make a giant thing like that, it'd be slow. And huge enough to be a really easy target for airstrike. And probably really really really expensive.

yes. i want a giant combat mech. i like to refer to them as guy melefs!!!

Yeh beats me how they avoid strikes but then again its hard to hit thats moving and firing back at you w/ heavy weapons if u goto the site u'll notice the weapons are just huge for the Tekki/steel battalion mechs. Just to tell u Laser guided bombs hit about 25% of the time and missiles about 50% of the time.

67mm light gun
120mm machine gun
270mm Assualt Riffle

lets just say 1 hit from that should rip nething apart cept notice the mechs shoot each other w/ it. and it bounces off. watch movie to see wat im squaking about

hmm canadian combat mech hmm

lets see 4 legged like a moose, but has large armor that surrounds it like a canadian wolverine, Main weapons are adamantium claws and large antlers made outa wood/ metal. Also it will use sonic attacks like celine dion music blasting loud and be shapped in a very moose like shade and movement. Oh and chemical attacks like terrance and phillip from south park.

MK.1 Uncle Fuka Moose battlemech

Bandai's rereleasing all the cool Valkyries in celebration of Macross's 20th Anniversary! I picked me up a few. Great toys, they are.

The first picture was of a heavy armor version (or something like that) of the Valkrie but the second was the normal version. I used to build those things from those really expensive (at the time) plastic models. That testors plastic glue sure smelled good after a while.

The pic you've got there is the prototype for the 1/48 scale Yamato. I think the 1/60 scale looks nicer. I think of all the Valkyrie toys, the Yamatos look the nicest and are cool because they're the most poseable. However, I heard that they're very plasticky and you've got to remove the legs to transform 'em. I'm sure I'll pick one up eventually, but the Bandais are my favorite for now. Sturdy and heavy.

so alex u think mechs should have ranged (guns, missiles, laser, beam) only or Melee(fist, sword, club, axe, staff) weapons with ranged weapons or just melee conan the barbarian style?

Practically speaking, I think ranged weapons are really all that's necessary. I just can't imagine all that much hand-to-hand combat conducted in mechs as I imagine there wouldn't be very many opportunities to get right up in the enemies' faces. Of course, in the off chance that the enemy does get in close, at least one melee weapon would be good. I'd definitely enjoy seeing two mechs duke it out up close and personal over seeing them launch missiles and shells at each other from afar.

my favorite way of big mechs fighting is from gundam, The beam or cartridge based weapons as a main weapon and a Beam saber as your back up close in i ran outa ammo weapon (or the im a bad ass and chop ppl up ability)

compared to macross where ur kinda assed w/o close combat weapons other then punching and making ur gun a batton.

SunWuKong
09-25-2002, 01:45 PM
yeah gundam started it all. the giant robot space war genre.

wylin
09-25-2002, 04:03 PM
well technically it was Starship Troopers that they drew inspiration for gundam for the mid 1960's troopers novels were the first depiction ever of powered humaniod weapons.

Wow some of those toys would look hot on my nightstand.

My uncle got me one of those veritech fighters (the one with the skull) when I was like 10-11 years old from Bandai and supposedly it's fetching some nice cheese on e-bay. Damn, I loved that toy, too bad I abused it like hell.

I go for choice 1. Imagine rolling up to a club in one of those.

for rolling in style i'd pick a VF-19 from macross plus but w/ SKULL LEADER insignia and color schema.

All I want is a Valkyrie. Growin up with Transformers and Robotech/Macross, I need a Variable Fighter...

CB: Those old school bandais are fetching a grip of money. Some of 'em are going for upwards of $600 if they're in mint condition. They're reissuing 'em though. Check out www.valkyrie-exchange.com (http://www.valkyrie-exchange.com). They've got all the cool Macross toys. Their prices are a bit high but they've got a great selection. Check out ebay as well...

Oh sheeeeit, arex. That's hot.

Hey speaking of transformers, didn't transformers take one of the Valkyries/veritechs and made it an autobot named Skyfire or something.

Supposedly the original Voltrons is fetching some cheddah too. Damn, I abused that toy to hell, too.

Yeah, Jetfire/Skyfire was the first Valkyrie I ever owned!

I actually have some both the car and lion voltrons back at my dad's place. I have no idea how much they're worth.

Dude, I should get some sleep...=P I think I'll call in sick...
