Another question I got into a big argument over my mother with - if you're driving, let's say about 40 mph, and a pedestrian walks out in the middle of the street (let's say s/he's jaywalking) do you speed up and blow your horn as to intimidate him/her to get them out of your way (as I did and got fussed at for) or do you slam on the brakes and hope they'll move quick enough so you don't hit them and get hit with a lawsuit.

I just got this Region 3 DVD from Chinatown. My DVD player is usually able to play them, but for some reason it ain't playing this one. Kinda pisses me off a little cuz I coulda got another disc instead of this one...

Not that it cost me an arm and a leg, but I don't wanna just throw it away. I got into work today and found out that I can play this on an external LaCie DVD burner on one of our Macs if I change up the region setting.

Is it possible I can burn this onto a DVD disk and play it from that? Or will the region codes burn into the copied version as well?

In case one is wondering, the movie is called "Calmi Cuori Appassionati" with Kelly Chen and Yutaka Takenouchi.

This really belongs in tech but anyway. Is there a limit on region changes on the LaCie? Most players allow 3-5 changes then will lock to the last region. As for copying the DVD or moving it to a new region, what you can do is rip the DVD (the VOB files and rip the IFOs) and write the unencrypted stream to a new disc. Of course, ripping it in the first place will require brute force cracking of the region, which several programs can do using ASPI. See Doom9.org for more info.

nah man, like ism said, you can only change it a few times before it locks the last region in place. or you can get a regionless dvd drive, i think they sell those online, it's a bit more expensive than the regular ones, but i tihnk it's worth it if you're gonna be collecting asian dvds
