Since all the current threads have been exhausted, I guess I'll start a new thread.

What do you think about men or women who "work (it)" with the same sex for monetary reasons? By that, I mean the porn stars, strippers, actors, and all that jazz.

Porn Stars: Hmm..you mean they're not lesbians??
Strippers: If you've ever been to a gay strip club, you need no explanation.
Actors: The straight actors and actresses in Queer As Folk or The L Word.

So what's your take on it? Is there an element of deception or is it totally acceptable since it's just a "job"?

It's acceptable as a job. The reason why people work is for money any way. There are limits to this, of course, but as far as the present case is concerned I personally don't think that there's anything wrong with it.

You're talking about this in terms of ... um ... visual entertainment, yes? And not coerced in any way? At the end of the day, these people aren't doing what they do for artistic merit, they're doing it for money.

I don't think this is a case of "deception" - people want hunks or whatever simply to gawk at or do their wrist exercises - they are just interested in the image. It is not what's inside that counts!

I wonder, are there any gay men doing straight porn? Porn experts, step forward now.

A friend of mine told me that some male porn stars get their start in gay porn, before moving on to straight porn. I feel there is a discrepancy, though. So many straight porn guys are oooglay, and gay porn guys are, well, from what I've observed, not.

Well...no one should be coerced into doing anything that they don't want to. I'm not approaching the question from a position of great knowledge (because I know absolutely nothing in this area) but generally though most people work for money alone. Whether it's being accomplished in desperate circumstances or not is a different matter, of course.

Does knowing that the actor is "authentic" intensify the enjoyment of watching it for you?

It's like someone that fakes an orgasm on screen and is rather obvious about it being fake, rather than someone whose genuine body/facial and/or vocal expression lets the world know that they are REALLY getting it and getting it good because that's how they get down...
