I was putting clothes away and Forever Your Girl by Paula Abdul came on. Then, Where the Streets Have No Names by U2. A couple of HIS favorite songs. Listening to 'em made me feel like crying just because they reminded me of him.

Has this happened to anyone else? Getting emotional after listening to songs that reminded them of ex's.

Totally. Music has a way of evoking all kinds of emotions out of me. I could be perfectly fine, and then a certain song comes on, and all the sudden, I just want to cry.

for me, the song is brown-eyed girl ... though however powerful a song is, a scent is even more powerful. at least you can change the station on the radio pretty quickly, but the scent is harder to escape, especially coming from a person. even now when I go on a date with a girl who uses the same brand of shampoo as my ex-girlfriend did, i have some trouble.

There might have been a few songs that I've associated with ex's. But, honestly, either I haven't heard them in a long time or I've clean forgotten.

I think of them from time to time in some nostalgic fashion. I wonder what happened to them and where they are and how they are doing -- but I'm not pining for any of them.

Or whatever doesn't kill us can give us a nervous breakdown. (just playing devil's advocate.) Of coures amie, I'm not trying to make you feel bad. Here are some songs that remind me of my ex's, which reminds me, I need to delete them off my computer.

Blondie -- Maria
Bon Jovi-- It's My Life
Bon Jovi-- Just Older
Foo Fighting-- Everlong
Smashing Pumpkins-- Thirteen
Brian Adams-- Please Forgive Me
Whitney Houston-- I will Always Love You ..eek eek eek!

hmm well, i wrote a college admissions essay where the opening quote was fr Every Little Thing She Do is Magic, by The Police:

"I decided to call her up, a thousand times a day
ask her if she'll marry me, in some old-fashioned way."

But since i've never had a gf, i can't have an ex. But I DO have a sadistic urge to play "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" by led zeppelin in front of a gf (when that time comes...muhhahahah)...now if THAT becomes her "song that evokes her ex..." shiiiiiet thats gotta hurt. :)

I think that K-Ci & Jo-Jo - All My Life seems to be a song that invokes sadness when it comes to relationships. I think that song was many couples' "song" when it came out.

For me right now with the most recent guy, they are:
- Brian McKnight - My Kind Of Girl
- LFO - Life Is Good
- Blink 182 - First Date

And Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland - Dilemma kind of, not really though.

I threw a party at my house once and my ex-girlfriend was there. She also knows alot of the same people I do, so we see each other alot. I absentmindely played "every breath you take" Puff Daddy version. See looked at me, then ran to the bathroom crying, and locked herself in. It wasn't our song, but it brought a shared memory back for the both of us. her sister gave me the medusa stare that froze my blood. I felt like such a jerk.
