Eurasian nation is a waste of time.

I have those people coming to my livejournal every 3 months or so saying to me, "Hey my Hapa brother, please check out this totally cool forum! You'll fit right in!".

Then they get all pissed at my witty response.

No, unless you want to hear people recite their family history maldito style and tell you how much they are a part of this or that culture or how unique and unfairly discriminated and/or accepted depending on what inner attention grasping need they have. Other than that it is a place for people to say "Hey that celebrity is half asian. Therefore we should support him for no other reason other than the fact that he is half Asian, nevermind that his acting skills suck." Those people can goo do what they want, but they need to stop stereotyping me as one of them.

It gets kind of boring hearing everybody's tales of getting picked up. "OMG i got hit on! They must've been attracted to my unique mixed look! LOL" -- stupid not so thinly veiled narcissism.

For the record though in response to what BeTheReds said, I do like seeing hapa celebrities. Not the gorgeous models and actresses and Kristin Kreuks, but more average looking hapa people. I wouldn't blindly support them, but I like seeing people that look like me represented.

I certainly didn't say I was opposed to hapa celebs.

This all stems from some argument I got in with a hapa about why I was supporting my home football team (the Redskins) when they were playing the Steelers. She said it was my duty to support the Steelers, as Hines Ward, a half Korean player was on the Steelers. Therefore I must support the Steelers and to do anything else would be un-hapa.

Hey, I don't have anything against Hines Ward, but I don't quite understand why I have to hope and pray that he trashes my beloved Skins.

Yeah, there seems to be a general theme in many hapa threads: coming to terms with hapa-ness. Are people just to weak or thin-skinned when it comes to how they are perceived? :frown:

Yeah, there seems to be a general theme in many hapa threads: coming to terms with hapa-ness. Are people just to weak or thin-skinned when it comes to how they are perceived? :frown:

Maybe.

Or maybe it's because we don't exactly have a culture to fall back on like full Azns or full whites do. Many (not all) Eurasians go through their lives feeling like part of them is missing, particularly Eurasians that grow up in the States. At the end of the day, your parents can only transmit so much of their heritage on to you, the rest is your environment.

Coming to terms can mean many things. Some EAs are perfectly happy not having any connection to their Azn side because that's how they grew up. Some EA's are totally Aznized. Some EA's are proud to be Eurasian, just like some Azns have super-AP.

Eurasian Nation is supposed to be a site where you can "come to terms with your Eurasianness," that's why it's there. So of course you're going to get people joking about the Eurasian Beauty myth, or that we're somehow genetically superior. If you actually read most of those threads, I think you'll find 90% of the time people are just joking around. There've been a few times when someone says something like that and their actually serious, (like this one time this guy said if he didn't meet a Eurasian wife he'd rather just not have kids) and usually they are ragged on just like they would be here.

Hello_Hapa, do I know you? are you on EAN?

Not really. I don't consider myself Asian (or "white") yet I do have a stake in the success of AAs b/c no matter how I identify people will have their preconceptions of me. The better "brown"-skinned people are, in general, the better off I am. Like I said, I choose to identify with my interests, tho, I do have an interest in culture and language, which is often categorized by race.
