In my close circle of friends, we have the yellow girl (me, obviously), the brown girl, the white girl, and a guy that's one helluva mutt so I'll just call him funky white. What about your friends?

I have no Asian friends. They're all just acquaintences and there are only 2 that exist in my grade, not including me. The closest to an Asian friend I have is my best friend. Part Pakistani, part Filipino, and part Australian.

I think I am the most purebred of all my friends in considering of hanging out with.
With my straight friends it all yellow.
With my gay friends. It yellow who want to be white and the white who wants to be yellow. And then there me. Yellow in and out. LOL

childhood: well, in malaysia, i hung out with chinese kids, cuz there were maybe 5 malays and an indian in my entire school. I keep in touch with friends from back in m'sia but not any of my middle school friends (mostly white and jewish).
high school: hung out with a clique of HKers. but my closest friends were volleyball team guys (two koreans and two puerto ricans) and an indonesian girl.
university: hang out with a clique of intramural volleyball guys (mostly white guys) or a clique of Japanese people. but my closest friends are a HKer, two taiwanese guys, and adopted taiwanese girl raised in the US.

I saw the photo with all those people from your school (I think) at some ball, Karizma. It scared me. They were all Asian. What happened to the other cultures? It's like you guys ate them all. DX

well ... malaysia tidak boleh ... that's why we're here in the US, right? we have a choice between m'sia, where there are many deep cultures which don't interact, or the US, where there are many shallow cultures which constantly interact. one form of diversity vs. another.

very true. I wouldn't move back there permanently. if given teh chance. Might work there for a couple of years. But I am 3rd Gen Malaysian Chinese and It a part of who I am as well. So I take a look at all aspect. Malaysia is a work in progress after all 45 years of independence jsut happen. It took the US 200+ years to get where they are. I do suspect with more time Malaysia will improve greatly. Give it time.
