New Fox Reality TV Show that "tests her Gaydar"

http://fox.com/playingitstraight/

Do You Have the Gaydar Necessary to Tell
If Someone Isn’t Straight?

One beautiful single woman. 14 sexy bachelors. A million-dollar prize. Think you know where this is going? Think again … things aren’t exactly as they appear when FOX puts this young lady and the viewing audience to the test to determine which guys are straight and which guys might be just PLAYING IT STRAIGHT, premiering Friday, March 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
This one-hour unscripted series may have a twist, but the rules are simple: if a straight guy is the last man standing, the couple splits the money. However, if a gay guy fools his way to the finish line, he leaves $1 million richer. With serious cash up for grabs, first impressions have never been more important.

Hosted by Daphne Brogdon (“The X Show”), the series follows single gal Jackie, a college student from Appleton, Wisconsin, as she embarks on a dating adventure at the Sizzling Saddles Ranch in Elko, Nevada. Jackie has traded in her book bag and No. 2 pencils for a cowboy hat and lasso with the hope of roping in the man of her dreams. But this cowgirl must determine which side of the saddle these guys ride on.

Jackie’s suitors are 14 men – some looking for love, some on a quest for money, and all trying to guess who is PLAYING IT STRAIGHT. These stallions vie for Jackie’s affections by participating in group activities and one-on-one dates that will simultaneously tempt her heart and test her “gaydar.”

Some will come out with nothing, some will come out of the closet, but only one will come out victorious. As for Jackie, she will either leave with love, money or her “gaydar” in need of serious repair.

I am willing to bet she falls for a gay guy

You can always count on Fox when it comes to delivering crap on television. Since I'm too tired to go off into a rant about how outrageous this is, I'll be content with saying that I hope whoever came up with this concept gets a devastating bout of some venereal disease.

When is the gayxploitation phase going to end?

Anyone watch this? I only saw a little of it, but what I saw was dreadful. Not that I expected anything decent, but it was even worse than I imagined.

I liked it.

But only from the standpoint of seeing the expression Jackie's face when she totally misread who she thought was gay.

The two guys she let go were not. And her reasoning for letting them go was that they weren't aggressive enough. (So passivity is a gay trait? My first thought was what better way to fool her than to come-on to her.)

It was funny to see all of the male contestants say that everyone else was gay accept themselves.

If there are indeed some gays amongst the contestants, somebody is fooling the shit out of everyone.

The only problem that I can see with the show is that she seems to pick who goes by virtue of her gaydar, which has failed badly. She should go with her heart. If it so happens that she picks a gay contestant, she can't be faulted for that. By going with her heart, she would chosen the most sincere and whatever else, which can only put gays in a positive light. (Not that if she picked a straight contestant would have an adverse affect.)

I didn't watch it all, but I disliked that the gay guys are the "bad guys" trying to lie and steal money from the pretty innocent hetero girl. And playing the game requires even the gay ones to diss other gay men and make stupid stereotypical insinuations while they try to "out" each other.

I missed her cutting the two straight guys she thought were gay, so maybe there are some lessons to be learned, but I didn't like the whole tone of the first show. Maybe I am just too sensitive.

Well there is that way of looking at it: "...gay guys are the "bad guys" trying to lie and steal money from the pretty innocent hetero girl."

And probably that's the way it's being looked at in ma & pa Christian's house.

The other side is just this whole concept of "gay stereotypes" and "holy hell, they can be as studly as the straight guys".

The ending showing the guys who were rejected was okay, too. I think they were pretty cool with it, especially with the idea of being labeled gay. I think I read their reactions as "it aint no thing" too some degree. Of course, you probably can't expect that from all the straights.

I'm waiting for the real villians on the remaining episodes: the homophobe straight guys. The guys that will be obnoxious, all that, then let go for their attitudes by Jackie.

Well, this time, Alex, a gay person was let go, but because Jackie thought the person was quiet and did not have an "outgoing" personality she liked.

When she found out he was straight, she was sort of shocked like the other guys.

She also let go a straight guy, Ryan, which everyone thought was gay, (I think Jackie, too). When Jackie realized that Ryan was not, she felt she lost someone who she was compatible with.

What does this say about some gay men? Straight women find themselves unknowingly attracted to them.
