Don't honk at me. Why not?
1) I'm not a fucking car.
2) I'm not in your way.
3) It's rude.

yes--and it can be a bit threatening, too, don't you think, amy?

today, when i was leaving the gym, some dude in the parking structure was following me on his bike. the last time i saw THAT happen (dude on bike in parking structure), an old couple was robbed at gunpoint. i was pretty freaked out. i kept walking in circles to see if the guy was really following me and also because i didn't want to be trapped in my car. then, finally, i turned around walked straight up to him, thinking that if he was going to rob me anyway, i might as well confront him rather than be chased down. i asked him if he was security and each time he smiled and said, "huh?" finally, i screamed, "ARE YOU SECURITY?" and he said no. he turned around and rode off.

can guys understand--sometimes it is inappropriate to follow/approach/etc. a girl just because you might scare the shit out of her.

i'm starting to think that women carry purses so that we can beat strange guys over the head with them :)

haha actually..i would rather beat a guy over the head with my purse than use my keys or anything else to protect me. i feel more secure carrying around this bag of bricks.

i hate it when guys honk at me or drive up close to me -- annoying and it scares the shit outta me. now a days i pretend i didnt hear.

All those sex-deprived hormone-overloaded guys are very annoying. I mean, it's a bit flattering at first, but it gets really tiring. One guy honks or yells out to you. Aw, shucks. A hundred more. You want to throw a brick at them. I especially hate the ones you run into that touch you and tell you that you look nice.

you should keep some offensive weapon with you - stun gun, firearm/gun, pepper spray just to keep on the safe side. there are many weirdos out and about.
yeh...i have pepper spray *and* a stun-gun. the problem with the stun-gun is that you have to wait until they get fairly close to you.

i haven't used either before, and frankly, i don't know if i would be calm enough to use them when in a bad situation.

That's what you've got your lungs for-- screaming!

Or walk with your cell in your hand, so it's easy to dial 9-1-1. In sticky situations, it's beneficial to wear comfy shoes.
