If you go to the topic posted by CRX, about your ideal girl, you may notice that all of them have light colored skin. I don't know how big of a part this plays in which girls you are attracted to, but do you prefer girls with light skin or those who are a little more tanned?
I know all of my lady relatives (my mom's aunts, cousins, etc.) say that lighter skin is better. Why? I think (correct me if I'm wrong) they said it was a class thing- farmers (the poor people) always working outside, therefore being more tan, and the rich people not having to work, thus having un-sun kissed skin. Yeah, so what do you say?

i like girls that are kinda tanned, like olive skin toned. mostly because i feel like it shows shez a hard worker, u know putting on her farmer hat and getting her hands dirty.

hmmm... the only dark-skinned girl i've really been attracted to was this mixed filipina/indian girl. she had really dark skin (like a dark-skinned black girl) and she had the most hypnotizing eyes.

Don't they usually use "olive toned" to describe Mediterranean chicks?

Yeah, my family and my relatives have all said that fair skin was attractive. My tanned relatives would look at me and say "Ahhh! Your skin so light, so beautiful." You'd think it sounds flattering, but it's weird because they like to touch it. o_O But I suppose fair skin is pretty nice, as long as it's not deathly pale.

i read a study a while ago which pointed out that women are actually lighter-skinned than men, genetically. neotenous characteristic. but anyway the same study noted that fewer women would prefer the two lightest skin tones on a man, than men would prefer those two same lightest skin tones on a woman. same held true in reverse for darker skin tones.

>> ive always been told that i need a tan, id say im pretty fair-skinned. my excuse? that whole farmer/noble thing lol...but i know a lot of guys whod rather date a lighter skinned girl than a really dark one. some even go so far as to say darker skinned girls look dirty, which i dont think is true. oh well.
>> i like my guys to have a tan, not severely burnt or anything...i just like guys who look healthy and ghostly white doesnt really suggest that.

I think we're talking about all skin tones. But right now, it seems like people are focusing on fair and tan.

Yup. And as long as it's even, I don't really like blotchy skin, though freckles are kinda nice.
I like tanned. Just a personal preference.

It's just an Asian mentality that lighter skin is prettier. Asian folks mostly have dark skin and it's difficult for us to change our complexion. This all leads us to value the lighter tone than the darker tone. I'm proud to have a darker complexion. I take pride in it because you guys don't realize how many whites out there would die to have our "olive skin"

There's something about South Asian girls that drive me wild. I love their dark skin.
My girlfriend isn't too dark though. It doesn't really matter to me, I guess. I just find darker skin color a little bit more attractive.

I like darker-skinned girls.....anything from olive-skin colored (like Italians, Jews, Arabs, Asians, Latinas, etc.) on down.
Our society indirectly teaches us that the lighter your skin color the better. I've met some people who weren't just white, but white. I mean, it's like how can I focus on what you're saying when you look so sick you're about to die? ;)

Hey, we casper skinned people have some uses too. You can use us like those little glow in the dark key chains. Just stick me up near a light bulb for a while and turn out the lights.

I have noticed the Asian women I've dated are generally pale, not all of them, but a good majority. The non-Asian women I've dated are generally tan and darker (or black for the black women I've dated).
Not intentional on my part, just funny now that I think about it.

I knew this girl that had so many freckles, she had freckles on her lips.
I've seen another girl who had so many freckles, it looked like someone threw a handful of dirt in her face.
But I know what you mean. Freckles in moderation can be cute.
Guys I know who grew up in Asia seem to prefer fairer skinned girls, while the ones who grew up in the States like darker or "healthier" tanned tones.
I think both fair and dark skin are beautiful, just not like mine, which pretty much turns yellowish in the winter. But I love my tan in the summer.
I remember driving by the beach over the summer and seeing a bunch of white guys -- deathly pale white guys who don't tan but turn lobster red -- without their shirts on. It was a real turn-off for me. Don't think I can ever date non-Asians...

I like women with slightly darker skin. I bet this has something to do with my childhood in the south, racial resentment and all sorts of factors that should have nothing to do with the selection process.
Also, darker skin is very pretty. Paleness freaks me out. I think of Mimi from La Boheme dying of TB.

Dunno people.. I like both kinds of skin tones, I don't discriminate. :D
But a few turn offs are:
1) patchy tans. You're trying to get a darker tone, not turn yourself into a world map.
2) Tan lines. Especially around the eyes. Try tanning with the sun glasses OFF. :gross:

my imaginary penis is more inclined to tanned girls...farmer like if you must say...
the lesbian inside me doesn't mind the tone of the skin, as long as it's soft and not chicken-butt-ish.
my personal preference for my body is to smear spf2 generic tanning oil (think hawaiian tropic) all over me and bask in the noon sun all shiny and slippery.
