most offices participate in baby pools and sports pools
does your office have any other games and activities
that involves all staff?

I don't recall any office that I've working for having a baby pool or sports pool.
We did have cheap christmas gift exchanges that we pretty much had to participate in (more than one company - old school corporate types).
I've tended to avoid staff Christmas parties and the like. I usually go to the events that have free food, etc. However, I haven't really had a static office, so group membership is sort of fluid with people belonging to several groups.
At another old job, everybody in the group dressed in costumes the manager brought for Halloween; We also had to wear our company's yellow shirts for a picture for the local paper because we worked with the mom of a certain professional bicyclist that was sick at the time.
At that same old job, all the engineers we involved in team building activities (run by a psychologist) just before they announce the division was being sold to another company. Less than 3 months later I was the last engineer to go in America. Screw corporate loyalty.
At my next job, we did have some team building activities (visiting the beach, volleyball, swimming, etc.) with the local staff in America, plus some of the staff in Singapore and China (that were stateside for training).

My current job the four of us go to the movies together a lot and out to eat. My old job, nada. Maybe they'd take us out to lunch individually once in a while. Oh, and a couple lame ass office parties, one for Christmas and one for whatever else. Man, those parties sucked. Note to employers: when planning a party, sometimes you have to spend the extra $0.50 to improve your otherwise cheap ass barbeque buffet.

Bowling seems to have been a winner.
The HelpDesk guys play Nerf basketball. And I've been dying to do a little "Chocolate Thunder" to take down their rim! :frown:

These things are such bullshit. The people who thought up these crap should be taken out back. Not everyone enjoys the company of even half of his/her co-workers. Not everyone wants to participate in gift exchange, white elephant, pot luck, ice-cream social, burrito diarrhea get-together, or whatever the heck some of these geniuses come up with. But most people will have to go through with it in order to be a "team player". I can't tell you how many ugly cards and useless little gifts I have gotten. Games and activities? How about giving me a raise and leave me the f___ alone?
