The Anticipation...
The Waiting...
Your first site of Grandad, tears he sheds
Then the Funeral Parlor
The Flowers...
The Open Coffin....
Good Grief, emotions so heavy like a ton of lead
Next:The Church Service
The Music...
The Songs....
And the preacher, the bible scriptures aloud he says
The Drive to the Cemetary
The Wide, Open, Field of Green Grass...
The Crisp, Clear, Blue Sky...
The Cool, Spring Breeze...
The Warmth of the Sun on my Cheek....
So much life amongst the rotting soil of death
The Dining Out
The Storytelling...
The Sharing...
The Hello's and the Goodbye's...
Just another part of the ritual until we all meet up again.
*I have this book about how to write poetry... and its assignment was to
write a poem about a ritual that accompanies a death. And this is what i came up with.. my experience i went thru recently with my Nana... and my reaction to the ritual of it all....
