which brings me to another subject. actually it's been discussed before but i don't remember if it was here or somewhere else on the web.
what do you think about having two names? an asian one, and an english one. i know alot of asian people actually just have an asian name and it's romanized to english when necessary.

If I have kids and this is a big if at this point for me right now. Yeah I will definitely give them English and Chinese names
As for names, my girl has been asking me about it (bad sign).
Hehe after seeing Triple X: I think Vin diesel Chen sounds hot. If not either Alexander, Spencer (sorry amietron) or David.
For a girl: Angelina, Kristina or Jennifer.

When I was less than 10, I liked the name Tatiliana. Now, I'm not so sure. Nicole is a nice name, I think. Hmmmm.... as for a guy, I have no idea. Maybe... Majin. I don't know. LOL.
I'm not so sure about potential names for my own offspring (that's probably a ways off, barring any unfortunate accidents), but I know my brother and sister-in-law were toying with the idea of naming their first son "Voltron." No joke. That way he'd also have the initials "VW."

Umm. Yeah, it's quite alright. I like the name too.

I think the first time we talked about it, he asked. Spencer, Jr., Gus and Kate. At first, he was all about Hideo Nomo Wong. No, don't think so. Sp likes Vin Diesel a lot, too. You know he has a twin brother?
Yeah I will definitely give them English and Chinese names
Me too. Well, if I marry a Chinese guy, then.. either Chinese, Japanese or both. Bwahaha. Daughter is getting the name Aimi. (pronounced ah ee me, like Ayumi with an ee instead of a yu)

naming a girl chi-chi would be like naming a boy ji-ji or gigi, kinda like *ahem, woot* gigi ng.

i'd like to give my kids a chinese name but with my competency they'd end up with names like 'chung-kuo" or "mei-li" or something (u'd only get this if u speak chinese...) i suppose my parents will have to give my kids their chinese names.
i think two names are great. i have my english name as my first name and my chinese name as my middle name. u get the best of both worlds.
i'm not so sure about giving my kids chinese names that are then transliterated into english as first names. if u're an abc, that's sorta just plain mean (no offense to those of you with chinese transliterated english names).

hey you have the same name as the newest japanese princess. :)
in mandarin it would be ai zi, pronounced approximately "i chee"
in cantonese it would be ngoi ji, and i have no idea how to explain how to pronounce the "ng" sound, but the ji pretty much sounds as is.

hahha yeah i might ask my parents to give my kids the chinese names if i marry someone with not so great chinese skills. at least i'd ask for suggestions. but if i marry someone with great chinese skills then i'd be set. i've been thinking about giving them only one name and transliterate the name to english, so it would have to be something that can transliterate well. on the other hand, it's just common for people in HK have had both chinese and english names, and this started in my parents' generation, so maybe i'll just do that. most people in HK actually use their english names in normal conversations.

My nickname/pet name is shao mao. My 'real' Chinese name is 陳 一 心. Supposedly, old crusty Buddhist scholars understand the reference. Yeah, run into those all the time. Isn't there a dou fu gan chainstore named 一 心?
