When did you update the homepage? I like the new look a lot! But where's all the information about the site (e.g., how many members, who's currently online, etc.)?

Thanks! Updated the whole sucker last night/this morning. Gotta love that PHP -- you pretty much edit a main theme file and major corresponding template files, and voila...new site. I wanted something that was closer to the layout and look of our forums.

As far as some of the missing info:

- Who's Online, Currently and Recent Forum Posts blocks: these will be added once our forums are fully integrated with the rest of the site. I know it's cheesy right now how we have double-registrations, but it's only temporary.

- Quote of the Day, This Day in History blocks: I wasn't sure whether or not to add these. I thought they were really cool at first, but they never seemed to generate a whole lotta interest from people, and if that's the overall consensus, then they're just additional sql queries that slow the site down.

There are two near-future additions that I think will add a lot to the site: a "Resources" area and "Original Content" sections (I haven't thought of titles for these), resources being a mini-repository of articles, possibly .pdfs, etc. on "major" Asian issues, and original content a kind-of blog section for columns or pieces to appear at regular intervals.

By the way...the banner is not to be taken too seriously at all. I wanted to leave this open to any members who wanted to take a crack at designing one. If you're familiar with javascript, even better, since the banner may require it.

yeah, i really like the homepage too.. and i also think the photo gallery is just rockin'!
