Are Chinese girls really that approachable? [Archive]

Not sure really where this should go as it could also go under a few other categories.

Anyway, I've worked for a lot of multi-nationals in the past 14 years and whenever I see a chinese girl I try and acknowledge them and say Hi, Each time they totally blank me as if I didn't even exist!

I am not trying to hit on them I am just trying to be friendly as I'm new to the organisation and it would be nice to know some people within the company thats all.

I never had the same problem with Chinese guys, Why is this the case?

Not sure if they are Fob's as I don't really get the chance to speak to them, Some of the British Born ones are like that too though.

Chinese FOB girls seem to be harder to befriend than other types of Asian FOB girls (like Japanese or Korean or whatever) from my experience. Maybe it's cause of the culture in that they aren't as social or more withdrawn or sumthin, I dunno. Regarding Filipinos, I don't really know any Filipino FOB's, but the Filipino American girls are always very outgoing and easy to get along with.

Yea seriously. And once again, in my opinion it's completely natural for an Asian American growing up in a white neighborhood to prefer white partners. And just because an Asian girl prefers white guys doesn't mean that she will treat all other guys like shit. I mean, I prefer Asian and Hispanic women, do I treat white women or black women like shit? Please. Anyways, yea, let's not turn this into another interracial ranting thread.

I don't want this to turn into a rant about multi racial dating either, But my issue is more with the fact that they are rude and have the arrogance to think i'm hitting on them when I'm not even interested in them in that way.

Ok I guess to respond to this seriously instead of making useless smart remarks that is my routine, I have noticed this also, not so much in that they are mean but they may come across as indifferent or not as open to socialization. I asked one of my international student buddies from Dalian (spelling?) if she agreed and she said 'I think it's just because of the language barrier', but then again it's not like other FOB's don't have issues with the language barrier either, and it's even in my experience that Chinese FOB's speak better English usually than Koreans or Japanese or Viets. Anyways, I guess you guys were talking about BBC's so...maybe what I just said was irrelevant. Maybe either way it just is in the Chinese upbringing to be withdrawn and softspoken or to act unemotional, even more so than in other types of Asian upbringing. Other types of Asian women tend to be more enthusiastic about things even if they may be closed-off or uncertain at first. Man, I sound like a phile now, I think I should just stop talking.

hmm... i've never found it that difficult, or more difficult, to approach Chinese girls. actually i find it easier to approach FOB Chinese girls, because i can generally rely on talking about language and about China/HK/Taiwan, and they'd actually be interested or have experience in it, whereas most ABC girls wouldn't necessarily be the same way. actually i think i approach ABC girls the same way i approach white girls.

and in HK, i found it much easier to befriend local girls if you have a mutual friend, you were introduced, or just connected in some way, than if you were in the US trying to befriend American girls. if you were a complete stranger, however, it's more difficult to befriend a local girl, than if you were trying to befriend a complete stranger of an American girl in the US.

I find that Chinese girls are much easier to make an initial connection than Japanese or Korean girls. For some reason Chinese girls are willing to just talk as long as you're nice and polite to them. For the latter, they like to size you up, put on some posturing and then see if the guy is worthy of attention. (Of course, there are exceptions to the rule.)

Hmm, for myself once in a while I have a friend introduce me (it's soooo much easier for me). Though a lot of times it's cause we're a co-worker or classmate. A lot of times, they approach me since I tend to be outspoken in the group. I'll admit I'm still a bit shy approaching any girl (unless it's on business). But once it's gone beyond that point of introduction, it get's easier getting to know them.

i just have to say your friend is perfect example of a confused whitewash af with no self worth/respect.

however, i agree with what you said about the lack of cool asian guys. I've been saying this all along guys, go work out, get some new clothes and get a good haircut. works wonders.

Being around SF, I have seen more AF + WM than I've seen in LA. It was weird because it wasn't just one particular instance or even just 1 day. It was the whole 3 weeks that I was there. Weird. Maybe those SF chicks have white fetish and are frightened by you ren, while those in other areas are receptive to asian guys hitting on them ?

It sucks in San Francisco. All types of women around here (especially Asian) can be very standoff-ish, especially if they think they are hot. I'd say a good 25% or more are like that here. I don't get an attitude as often when I go to other places like SoCal, Vegas, San Diego, etc.

I've actually seen more hot (Asian) girls both in Seattle and in San Francisco than anywhere else in the US. I noticed a lot more hot white girls in L.A. and of course the Latinas run Miami ^^

I've never had problems befriending, or talking with Chinese girls here in LA. However, I seem to date Koreans the most if they are asian at all. I guess it's just one of those coincidences. I haven't actually gone out with a Chinese girl in a long time.

I've never had any real issues here in LA but I would avoid San Francisco like the plague. It's a shitty city if you're a single guy much less a single asian guy. It's also become a bit of a haven for asiaphiles looking for "oriental treats" too. :rolleyes: There's a significant deficit of quality women there and an overload of materialism + pretentiousness. I know things are even more bleak in the silicon valley, the entire area is populated by swinging dicks with pocket protectors so ANY female presence is highly treasured. Back in the old dot com days I was hearing about single female employees dating their millionaire bosses.

One time I was working for a well known media company and its quite common knowledge that the chinese girls refuse to speak to chinese guys working there unless they were in any position to further their career.

Working in a helpdesk industry myself and other chinese guys were always helping them fix their p.c's, sorting out any problems they had with spreadsheets etc etc when it was close to deadlines and they were pretty much screwed if it wasn't resolved.

Being the helpful guy I am, I prioritised it so they got seen to first and sorted things out, they didn't even bother to thank me, whereas if it was with other caucasian people, I always got praise etc.

I since found out that some of those chinese girls actually expected us to prioritise our workload to suit them because they thought that we should of immediately rushed to see them as they were doing us a favour by letting us spend time at their desk and sorting out the problem.

I don't want to generalize but SOME of the Chinese girls I have met are very stuck up (Chinese 1st gener Americans). The Native born Chinese-American girls are usually nice :smile:

I was going to hear a Asian American presentation about color in the AA community and asked two FOB type Chinese looking girls for directions and their faces were like "woo look at this creep trying to talk to us). :confused:

My school is about 5-7% Asian. Just to clarify I was not hitting on them, just wanted to get to the presentation on time. I get the feeling they think they are God's gift to all men.

Maybe it is because my school is so white washed that the lack of Asians has made us more attracted to white girls? Ooops I suffer the same phenomena. Also Chinese Parents have very high expections of their little Dragon's and Phoneix's. So usually the 1st geners are stuck up. IMHO.

I don't know man. There is a lot of FOB girls going out with ugly white guys at my school. :confused: Anyways I don't really care. The AA girls have a mix of Asian and white boyfriends. Dosent bother me either way. People are people if you like them then go for it :smile:

I think I resemble a mop dressed in a sweater and cargo pants, but usually that doesn't stop me from striking up conversation with girls that I think are hot or the most beautiful of the bunch, whether they are Chinese or white or whatever......I admit I can be very superficial when it comes to choosing who I wanna meet or talk to...but I guess this just opens up another can of worms so I won't really get into that right now regarding me and my girl problems. I think perhaps my indifference to failure or rejection has something to do with being screwed over big time in high school and realizing that when it comes to women I have nothing to lose so might as well go for it and do whatever.

actually ive noticed alot of not-so-hot chinese girls (my friends in particular) are very very very picky. and im like "wtf coming from the type of guy u are rejecting you dont exactly have a line of guys waiting on u so u should just go with it!"
i've noticed that too.....i guess they're just trying to make themselves feel better? can't blame them. i mean, i'd expect girls, and guys who look mediocre to try to differentiate themselves and get ahead of the pack, so to speak. if that means being overly cocky about his/her looks then fine, so be it. Little do they know that the real key is being a good and decent person whom people can respect.

Yeah, but what if their words are only reflecting the reality out there? I mean, let's face it, reality is racist. I did counter his more extreme statements, but let's be honest - hapa guys do typically have an advantage in dating over full-Asian guys.

I remember a thread on MM a long while back where girls were told to list hot Asian guys. Nobody listed a single full Asian. They were all hapas or mixed like Jason Momoa, Keanu, Enrique, etc. etc.

So, what many of those hapas there are stating, is simply the obvious. And this is borne out by the stats posted in that thread. Actions speak louder than words, no?

It's too easy to dismiss them as racists, but far less easy to dismiss all the basic points they're making and the reality that backs them up... :eek: :frown:
