Hi everyone,
I must say that for 3:30am, I'm relatively awake. It feels nice knowing you don't have to wake up early tomorrow and go into work. I'm John, 24 y/o korean, male (if you havent guessed) and living in San Diego, CA (anyone else?). Right now going to school but applying for jobs so might be in another city this time next year.
Just wanted to say hello before I start leaving my $0.03 on other posts. :D

--Thanks TapestryBabe :) I have to say Mashimaro (http://www.mashimaro.co.kr/) is the silliest cartoon concept I've run across.

I've been here 3yrs and it has taken me this long to finally enjoy the city. If you had asked me 2yrs ago I would have said, go to LA. But since then I have found it has a lot to offer.
Clubs - Broadway, Aubergine are the two 'hippest' in town, both in the Gaslamp. PB Bar and Grill for low key, no cover clubbing, sketchy crowd tho. There are a lot more around the Gaslamp (like Ole Madrid, Onyx Room, Tsunami's etc)
Shopping - Carlsbad outlets, Fashion Valley, UTC
Foods:
Korean food - I like going to Convoy Tofu House, and MinSokChun
Chinese - the quintessential Jasmine dimsum; Dumpling Inn; Tea Station for boba.
Sushi - Sushi Ota in Pacific Beach; On Broadway has an excellent fusion sushi restaurant inside (book reservations at least a week early)
Seafood - Joe's Crab Shack; take your friends for their b-days and you can embarass the heck out of em
-Watch the San Diego Padres play
-Old Globe Theater for Shakespeare
-Balboa Park has the world-famous San Diego Zoo, and probably 20 museums.
-Sea World - Cirque de la mer
-We just missed the Del Mar Fair
-San Diego Wild Animal Park
-Glorious beaches from Baja California (cheap lobster!) to San Onofre (considered Orange County I guess). Rent sea kayaks from La Jolla Shores and explore the coves. Rent sail boats in mission bay or jet skis. Beach volleyball is always fun.
-Gamble at the casinos or shop at the outlets (~40min east)
-Tijuana for wild and crazy stuff
-Go apple picking this autumn in Julian
-Camping in Cuyamaca
Next week is Street Scene 2002 (http://www.signonsandiego.com/citysearch/feature/264/index.html?cslink=cs_generic_2_0). Free concerts in the street by lots of artists including, Melissa Ethridge, Wyclef, Busta, Bad Religion.
I'm sure there is a little something for everyone. The big aspect I felt San Diego was missing was more of an Asian prescence. As soon as you leave Convoy (our little Asian-town), there isn't much yellow in San Diego.
Anyhoo, I'd be more than happy to talk some more about SD. It took me awhile to adjust... btw, how long have you been in the area? Anyone else in SD?

I've been to San Diego a couple of times recently. I wouldn't mind living there-- anywhere but here. :D

I've only been here for a few days so far. I'll be here until next Friday, August 16th. (YES. It's a family vacation. <_<) We're staying in Solana Beach, at the tennis resort. My dad got the place as part of an RCI timeshare vacation plan thing he does every year. So far we've gone to Coronado Island (and around that general area), and Del Mar.

Oh come on, there must be plenty of female John's. You think men are the ONLY people who try to hook up with prostitutes?
Sorry, tasteless joke at your expense. :)

Do you guys have any plans? I'd say go hang-gliding or something adventurous that you wouldn't be able to do elsewhere. I'd be happy to show ya around, but I'm usually working till late. How did you guys choose San Diego for your family vacation?
